    Hey Bowski

Don't be so hard on yourself - remember your ex isn't paying anything towards DD so trying to manage on your own is a big thing.

Re: hair appt - could you manage with a home dye??? I bet Nicnacnoo could help you put it on!!!! Or how about going to a training college to get it done? Would def be cheaper.

Re: greenday tickets. I would leave as is, don't tell DD you've got them yet and then see how you get on. If your year is going well and you manage to save up for them then hurrah! but if you are finding things tight then you can sell them. You'll need to wait til the gig is sold out anyway before selling them on I would have thought?

Have you had a look on oldstyle for cheap cooking. I make a big pot of soup for lunches in the week and this is pretty cheap and cheerful. I either grate a bit of cheese on top for protein or mix in some ham or cook with lentils. These are all cheap things and are pretty nutritious too.

Good luck! and stop being hard on yourself. We've all been there, bought something expensive but as a treat and then struggled to pay things like rent, bills, etc etc.

I once missed my flight home from Paris as I'd spent my last cash on a hard to get nail varnish from Chanel (Rouge Noir, as designed for Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction and nowhere to be found in London) and then realised I didn't have enough money for the train to the airport :o:rolleyes:

It doesn't make you a bad parent.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

I have coloured my own hair for twenty years and only ever one (mini) disaster in that I chose a colour that didn't suit me and dyed over it a week later. I used to do blonde with a Boots own brand, now red wine red with Schwartzkopf Live - costs £4 every six to eight weeks as I only need one pack (buy two for your first attempt or if you have quite long or thick hair, plus vaseline for your hairline). If I am skint I get my hair cut at the local college OR I wash at home, tie back wet, get it cut professionally but then tie back wet again. Saves loads!!

    Hi guys....

Makeup thanks for the advice re Green Day tickets... it makes total sense! I'm just thinking of not going coz I can't afford it right now but it's ages away so I'll just see at the time. Crikey I can't believe you missed your flight  That is something I would do-although not for a nail varnish lol How did you end up getting home?

Well I've been and got my hair cut, but I decided not to get it dyed. I shall buy a home kit soon. I know I can get a friend to do it but I think it's worth the money I pay at the hairdressers as it lasts much longer and makes my hair lovely and shiny. But it's only worth it if I actually have the money to pay for it. So as I had a long appointment DD also got her hair cut and it cost £30 altogether which I'm well happy with.

I reduced my payments to my rent as I was paying £50 and only have to pay £27 now. So I have £20 to go with tonight. Although I'm hoping not to spend all that :money:

I'm off work now until Monday so planning on a lazy day tomorrow, followed by some present wrapping on Friday then staying at my Mam's over the weekend as she's going away.

Oh FireFox I love the sound of that red wine red hair dye... I always used to do it red when I was younger. I've got boring in my old age and now only have it brown. Naturally I'm really dark brown so I just get it done as close to that as possible.

I managed to get most of the jobs on my list done eventually...mainly due to an escaped hamster  But still to do DD's room. Lula I am so envious of you gettting that job out of the way!

In my defence I was about 20 at the time.....

I was completely hysterical by the time I arrived at the gate and I was very lucky and basically just rebooked onto a later flight. I was flying with BA thankfully and didn't even have to pay any more - just had to hang around the airport for about 4 hours.... I can imagine how expensive it would be if I was flying with Easyjet or Ryanair

Sounds like a nice few days planned. I agree totally that hair colouring in a salon is better than home but really - for the money it costs - it definitely counts as luxury. £30 for you and DD to have hair cuts is very good value.

    Hi!

Totally agree with Shoe Gal, makeup and Fire Fox. Keep the Green Day tickets for the moment and see how you get on.

£30 for both you and DD haircuts is ace! I dye my hair at home and it's dead easy. Get somebody to help you though, at least at first. When I used to pay for mine, I found it was no better than I do myself, but maybe I didn't have a brilliant colourist  I use Superdrug own brand permanent colour, it's often on offer. I got 4 boxes (I use 2 per go because my hairs quite long) for a tenner the other week. I just go about a shade darker than I am naturally to cover the grey blonde hair that likes to appear around the parting and at the front :D

Glad to hear the tablets are working out for you.

Thanks for the posts girls, I think £30 for us both is great too. we both had cut, blowdry and straightened so was really good. I shall have a look at that hair dye Gwen, I will definitely have to dye for a wedding I have in January.
Oh makeup I can't imagine how scary that must have been at such a young age, I'd still carp myself if it happened now!

I am the laziest person on earth...FACT!

I'm still on the sofa with my quilt... I've slept here for the last 2 nights:o
I was so lazy yesterday I hardly ate anything :j

I am going to get dressed and move today though. I've just ran my bath, put the heating on to get some washing dried and washed the pots. The plan for the day is to wrap all my presents for everyone except DD as her presents aren't here. There's loads and I'm pretty sure I'm all done :j

I keep thinking I am so skint when I am I ever going to have money for debt replayments and to pay my holidays but I've just been looking on my bank and in the last month I've spent over £100 on xmas presents plus I had to pay an extra £112 to my phone bill and £125 on car (that's all extra as I also had funds to pay for them). As I won't be paying that kind of money out every month I should be able to start paying debts off again come January :D I seriously hate not paying extra towards my debts

I should be getting a call from the CSA today, but after last weeks phonecall I don't think I'm going to be getting any money. My caseworker is lovely but one minute she's spoke to one person and they say they'll be able to do something so I can get money but the next day she speaks to someone else who says I won't be able to get any. I'm gonna tell her to just go back to the first person and go along with what they say!

    Suppose I'd best move

I think I shall update while I'm on a roll else I'll go for months without posting again and that's not the idea of a diary!

I got a payment from the CSA today :j:j:j A big fat payment of £3.76. I don't know what to spend it on first, the choices are endless
I shouldn't complain really as I think it's a sign that something is happening with my case. I had a call from them today to but missed it  I know my case worker is off tomorrow I'll have to ring on Monday see what she says.

Tablets are still going ok, but I had some cake yesterday and still didn't get the side effects  But I have lost 4lb since 1st December so I don't suppose it's too bad. I'm feeling really impatient though and think because I've been good that I deserve to lose a stone a week  I'm 17st 1lb now though so I'm really looking forward to getting into the 16 st range , it always thrills me when I go into the next range...small things and all that :o

I'm off from work now till Thursday and now it's so close to xmas it looks as though I'm going to lose my 2 days holiday I have left  I only do 3 days so shouldn't moan but I will ;)

I have great intentions of getting everything done in my week off, but my first day didn't start too good with sleeping in till 11:30  I guess staying up till this time doesn't help matters. I've got to go to my sister's tomorrow waiting for someone to come and fit sky so I think I'll have a cheeky snooze while I wait for him, and then I'll wrap all DD's presents as they're at my sister house.

If anybody's reading... hope you have a good weekend

  • I was about to have a huge rant on SAID but thought it's best to waste my own space rather than Sarahb's....

So today was meant to be a fantastic day. My Daughter had a main part in her school play and they've all been working really hard to put it all together. I've been so excited all day to see how it went (i'm going tomorrow). My Mam gets back with DD and says she's gone upstairs crying, I was thinking something went wrong with the play but it turned out she'd been shouted at in a very unreasonable manner :mad: I am totally mortified  she could barely tell me what happened as she was so upset. Her teacher was screaming at her and what I'm most upset about is she said to DD 'how can I praise you for that performance when you've done this':mad::mad: The incident had nothing to do with the play whatsoever and everyone that went to watch her has said she did fantastic and they we all really shocked about how good she was, and during the break people were talking about her and how well she'd done (proud mummy moment :D) It was a huge day for her that she's worked endlessly for and I am so fcukin mad that it's been ruined :mad::mad:(i'm crying now but not sure if it's about the teacher or being proud of how well DD did)

Her crime basically was a boy said to DD that he was going to say something to another girl. It was really nasty and hurtful about the girls unborn brother/sister. So DD being the way she is told the girl what the boy was going to say as she didn't want the girl (one of her best friends) to be upset when he said it. Now I understand DD shouldn't have said anything to the girl and I've spoken to her about that but it's the way the teacher has dealt with the whole situation I am so mad about. The boy gets away with stuff all the time, he runs out of school, swears at teachers etc. yet DD does one thing wrong and she's treated like that, humiliated infront of all the girls in her class. I'm not saying DD is perfect I'm pretty sure she isn't but she is a very caring sensitive little soul and seeing her like she was today broke my heart :mad:

I have NEVER reduced DD to tears like that before so I don't think anybody else has the right to.
DD doesn't want to go to school tomorrow and she's never said that in the 8 years she's been there!

So I have a meeting with the [STRIKE]b!tch[/STRIKE](no i'm better than that!) teacher tomorrow at 3:15 but in the morning I will be taking a letter of complaint in to give to the head. I am utterly carp at getting my point across and don't know any good words but I'm just going to have to do my best.

That could possibly be the rant over but I make no promises ;)

  • Thanks Shoe Gal...

I'm just thinking of her in bed now on her own, I hope she's asleep and having sweet dreams coz she's been so upset. I didn't want her to go to school tomorrow, I just wanted to spend the day hugging her and watching DVD's, eating sweets etc but I know it's not the right thing to do so she's going to school  I can't stop welling up when I think about it so god knows how she feels
