    men. why do we bother??

cmd - we've always had a lot of annual leave but the nature of the job means you can't take it during certain times Christmas for example and you end up having to cancel some a/l or there's not enought weeks to go around

That's not fair. That is bad management I think (not by you, by the manager). When I managed I always made sure that annual leave and TOIL was never built up too much. Yeah, sometimes it made things difficult but we got on with it.

The nature of residential work means that you are often made feel guilty when you ask for leave though. I remember it well.

i had a really bad guilty conscience. they'd make you feel you were letting the clients down more than the company and then i'd feel really bad. have to be honest since i've gone back to work after my mat leave my conscience isn't as bad. DD comes first

hi CMD - no rota isn't up yet. if i have to work christmas eve night i will be furious. i'm the only one with a small child. the rest all have grown up children. in my last place we always worked it so those with kids had christmas off and those without had new years off. i have worked every christmas except the one when i was on mat leave. but i suppose we'll see
