thanks roll on Monday when hopefully I can make some greater inroads!
my cashback credit card was an eye watering £1475 this month - but that has been paid off - but OH has presented me with a bill for about £250 from some recent car expenses - I still need to pay that off....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

No I should get paid next Monday and then hopefully again the Wednesday before xmas.
The newish job is going okay but the commute itself is exhausting!
Debt free by 41 is still good yes! At least my debts are still heading downwards!
My new commute is longer too - nowhere near as long as yours (mine is about an hour) but it does take its toll a bit so you have my empathy and sympathysavingholmes wrote: »Really pleased you are enjoying it that's great news. :j Don't forget you can get cashback on things like national trust memberships.
I got mine through Quidco a little while back and it only cost me £21 after discount on the Nat Trust site and Quidco and I got a free pair of binoculars which was brilliant as I had wanted some for ages. :T thanks for the reminder£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

good luck with national trust then - and commiserations on the commute - but at least you are enjoying your job more and are on decent money!
I've just got back up after an hour of not sleeping... think the central heating is to warm so will need to adjust that - meanwhile have opened a window and am back downstairs tapping away on my laptop!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Morning all. Just paid £35 off my Virgin card and £35 off my Oz holiday credit card.
Oh is due to get paid for the part time job he did (hopefully before Xmas) so I am hoping to split the money between baby savings, my Oz credit card, my Virgin card & some money for our joint account.
He still needs to sort out his back tax so need to get him to do it on Sunday.
I worked out my maternity leave for work. I am taking 4 1/2 months off, then going back 1 day a week for 10 weeks, and then going back (after 7 months) on a 3 day basis instead of full-time. My contract should run out in Jan 2011 so will have to look for another job when I go back.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Morning all.
Seems like you've worked everything out CMD. Sounds like a good plan!
I can't wait to get the money off to pay half of s.loan...2 weeks still to go...
Not sure what to do for best though. I can pay s.loan off next year, but because I'm charged interest on CC, and can't pay much more than minimum, it will hardly go down next year...:( So don't know if any extra I make, should come off CC or go towards s.loan to pay it off even quicker. It feels like I'd be better of putting extra towards the CC...DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Thanks Tirlittan,
Have just worked out that we should only be depending solely on SMP (Statutory Maternity Pay) for just 6 weeks so am hoping some of our baby savings can go towards debt instead.
It sounds like the extra would be better going off the credit card alright. I find it very motivating paying money off a credit card.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Yes, I think so.
The DFD I have now in my sig, is off today's situation, so I still owe £7932 on s.loan and nearly £6k for CC. When I pay the £4k off s.loan, DFD should be Dec 2010 for s.loan and March 2012 for CC. The thing is, I still want to be DF before my 33rd which is in November 2011 (really want to have last payment in Oct as my birthday's on 4th). So I need to shave off another 5 months, which is about £1900!!! Tall order I know, but that's why I thought any extra will be better of coming off CC. Make sense? Kind of does to me...:oDEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Yeah, it makes total sense to me. I agree - try and get rid of the credit card - well as much as you can. It will also motivate you to make more money. Have you checked out dooyoo yet?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Good stuff. I don't do dooyoo anymore, as I do AQA but I found it great for Amazon vouchers. They do pay out when you get to £50 as well so worth bearing that in mind.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
