    Scaredy Cats !! :p

I'll complain if I want to - you guys carry on giving O'Leary exactly what he wants if you want to ... I'll take what I want based on custom and practice and make a noise when I don't like how he's changed it if that's alright with you :money:

Not so much Scaredy Cats - more like unwilling to pay money out when it's cheaper to book hold luggage in advance than be caught with overweight hand lugage and be forced to put it into thr hold at premium cost.

If you want to play the odds, that's fine with me.

If you want to take the kitchen sink because you've not been caught out before, that's fine with me.

If you want to complain about it if you DO get caught, that's fine with me too.

    Giving O'Leary what he wants?
No, just making sure that a cheap flight stays that way.

This is a 'money saving' site. Recommending that someone takes more than their allowance just because anecdotal evidence suggests that Ryanair might be less than thorough with checks is irresponsible - it certainly won't be 'money saving' if they have to pay a significant amount at the gate!

Complain to who, exactly? I would love to see the response to any complaint that *you* broke the terms and conditions and expect compensation for doing so.

A noise to who, airport security? I'm sure they'll love to listen to you rant and rave about Michael O'Leary after the plane leaves. You can quote your 'custom and practice' all you like - but we all know that it won't stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever.

I'm also sure that it's no problem for Ryanair to deny a bothersome passenger boarding :)

The only sensible advice is to stick to Ryanair's T&C's. If you don't like them, then don't fly Ryanair. It's that simple.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.
  • Hello all. I was not sure where to post my inquiry, so please accept my apologies in advance if this is not the appropriate place:

I am a musician currently resident in Spain. I planned to holiday in the Canary Islands and take along a travel guitar as hand luggage. The problem is that despite the fact that these instruments are touted as 'travel guitars', especially in the USA, they measure considerably more than the limit allowed, i.e. some 83-85cm x 36.5 x 18.00cm. I did manage to find some information about this, but what I do not understand is how these products can be marketed specifically as being possible to store in the overhead luggage compartment on any flight, yet clearly they are not within the size restrictions???????

    Kind regards,

    David L

I've no problem being under 10kg with my bag, it's all the stuff I buy at the shops that's a problem (magazines, water, snacks) - anyone had their bags weighed at the gate before boarding recently?

    Two reasons

    a) "travel" isn't the same as "airline". The guitars tend to be smaller and tougher with less edges that can be cauht / snapped, not airline sized
    b) the US has rules on hand luggage size then ignores them
