    Thanks tilly!

Well I am 40, with three kids age 14, 12 and 10, three Devon Rex cats and a partner of six years. We live in a 3 bed housing association house which is bulging at the seams with us all. I work for a firm of Financial Planners. He is an architects technician.

Although he and I both earn decent salaries we can't afford to buy a house because the price of houses is so high as first time buyers it would cost us about £1500 a month (compared with £325 rent) to buy anything big enough and we couldn't borrow that much.

I love cats, Corrie and The Tudors. Love being at home and making nice stuff for the family.

I'm not well today - I've caught the lurg that my kids had last week. So I'm not going to do the ironing. I'm telling myself I'll do it tomorrow night.

Feels strange just to be on the PC at this time on a Sunday though ....

omg im so angry SO angry i just wrote the longest post EVER and it deleted. i HATE my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont have time right now to post it again, i want to cry.

i hope you lovely ladies are ok. thanks for the bday messages, it was ok the night out was the best part though last sat.

Er... ebbs i totally sympathise with you ive spent a ridic amount this month, including 60 quid on a facial and massage which has totally ruined my skin, i NEVER get spots but right now look like an acne ridden schoolboy. NOT happy. and ive got another model comp on thursday. great stuff.

Im sorry i havent been on for ages its just work has been totally manic, i havent even had time for a wee let alone anything else (seriously, a LOT of crossed leggedness happened this week) and when I get home my brains too fried for this. I will try harder though.

I am thinking of asking for a pay rise, i work so so hard work and have so much responsibility and I know my pay doesnt reflect this, but i dont know how to bring it up, my boss is a friend so it makes it kinda wierd...any thoughts.?

Anyway dinners ready so ill come back in a bit.

oh my last post was way better :(

    Evening all,

Welcome Cat! Well OH took me out for a lovely Indian meal last night, it was delish, was trying to cheer me up over the credit card fiasco (also on my diary - it's ok Laura no-one knows about mines either)! It's boring anyway, ha!

Anyway waiting on my sister's OH coming to fix my leak, I can see water dripping and think it's from the washing machine tube but I don't know how to fix it, sometimes I wish I was handy instead of relying on a bloke to fix it.

Came home today to find 2 books through my letterbox, thought a strange Blondie member had put them through but were from my sister's friend who stays near me! Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. x
  • Hey ladies

Tried to paint this afternoon but it went totally wrong! So annoying. Anyway, have abandoned it in favour of Sunday papers and slobbing.

Princess - hey treacle. Sorry to hear you so down. I'm sure you don't look like an acne ridden teenager but I know what you mean. When I have a spot it's all I can think about!
If you're really feeling underappreciated at work and you've not had a raise then I definitely think you should say something. Even though your boss is your friend, he/she is still your boss and has to act appropriately in this situation. Ask for some time with them, then before you meet with them, write a list of all the reasons why you deserve a pay review and answers to possible questions they might ask you about it. Obviously it's difficult, love. Be friendly but also confident and stick to your guns. Good luck!

Poppy - you're a treasure to say that, thank you. However as is well documented on this thread I am reeeeeeally not comfortable in my own skin! Hence the food addiction and reclusive tendencies! Hope you're feeling better today.

Cat - hiya! Welcome to the thread! Sorry you're not feeling well, hope you perk up ASAP. Whereabouts in the country are you? We're all scattered pretty far and wide. I'm in da hood (also known as Brixton).

    Yes I was :D

Kitchen is now clean (er. I will have some stuff to put in the diswasher later but mostly clean :D)

Dinner is in the oven. Lamb shank with minted gravy. Roasted new potatoes and carrots, cauliflower and green beans and some yorkshire pud. OH was saying how he was having roast lamb dinner at his grand-parents and I was thinking 'hmmm, i want some of that!' :D 'Enders is on- don't usually watch it but it's ok background noise and reminder set for x-factor. All in all- an enjoyable evening will be had methinks (especially with 1/2 bottle of wine in the fridge :D)

Welcome Cat Addict- no wonder you were attracted to the 'blonde-crazy-cat-lady' thread. :rotfl:*ps- a good majority of us are not 'technically' blonde but at least 'mentally' blonde :rotfl: I am Laura, 28 live with OH and cat Harold. I did catch Poppytime up with what was happening with me so I shall go find that post and copy and paste it! :rotfl:

Princess- sorry work is so busy :( It sounds like you are being run ragged! If you do choose to ask for a payrise make sure you go into the meeting with a prepared list of what you do and what your responsibilites are and particulary any new stuff you are responsible for now that you weren't when you started and your pay was agreed, to show how much more you do now. Does that make sense?

I'm in a bit of a weird situ at work. It think I am being paid considerably less than another person who was doing the same job but I can't prove it as peoples pay isn't information that is shared. That and other people came back travelling expenses and no-one has ever told me i can, so I never have. So a bit fed up. Especially as I looked on opticianonline at jobs and for people with my qualification in this area at the moment offered salarys start at £15k up to £30k, averaging at around £23k. I'm on £17.5k. I'm starting to wonder if I can afford to keep working where I am.
