Did the I see the OP says she is going to have a test drive tomo, the salesman will be expecting her to sign on the dotted line!

I guess he can expect all he likes - the O/P needs to be firm and say no until she is confident she has the right deal / car.
  • Woah thanks for all your replies

Ok Im def going to ask him to knock off all the extras he added on , that amounted to £1300 or something, maybe I could ask him to throw in insurance? would they do this and how do I go around asking about it? Do i call their bluff and say that somewhere else is offering it.

Im going to go down to Peugeot and have a look at second hand cars and new, just because if I do decide on a used, Peugeot is my choice, my car has never broken down on me in 3 years, feel mean scrapping it :(

I will go down to Vauxhall, test drive and see what happens, however approx £200 has gone missing from my Abbey account and card has been blocked so going to find out whats going on first:mad:
  • Has this offer changed? At the beginning, people were saying that the interest only worked out at just over £1000. It actually works out at almost £5000, which is quite extortionate. Bear in mind they give a £3500 scrap allowance, and also that this is over 5 years, so I'd avoid unless another finance deal was available.

No the original deal hasnt changed? Where are you getting almost £5000 of interest from?

Why are you implying £3500 of a discount / scrappage allowance is a bad thing?

I cant see them offering to throw in insurance, unless you saw that deal offered when you were in Lookers? If you call their bluff they may well ask you to show where.

Good luck with finding the £200!

    Cash Price £10,255
    Less Lookers/Government Scrappage Allowance £3,500
    Balance to Finance £6,755
    60 X Monthly Repayments £135.04
Plus £273 Credit arrangement and option fees
    Total Amount Payable £11,875.40

That's the deal. The cash price is 10,255 less scrap allowance which brings it down 6,755. The difference between the balance to finance and the total payable is the interest. This comes to 5120.40. That's a lot of interest.
