I don't really want this thread to go down the line of the £11K loan to buy a Yellow Seat Leon.

I wouldn't buy any new car, complete waste of money, even tho' I can afford to.
Thats purely your opinion. There are lots of reasons why buying new can make sense.
I would certainly not even consider getting in to debt for a new car in this financial climate.
Purely your opinion. The O/P asked for our opinions on THE DEAL not their own personal viability for the purchase.
To pay interest on top of the actual cost of a car is sheer stupidity in my book.
If it allows an individual to break a large cash purchase down into manageable budgetable monthly amounts, then i dont see the issue? The O/P would be paying approx £22 a month in interest. This may well be offset by reduced fuel costs, reduced tax costs, reduced running costs over their current vehicle.
If I was forced to give an answer to your question, probably a Hyundai i20 would be a better choice than any Vauxhall.
Agreed. Well worth looking at. And much more useful a response than purely dissing the Vauxhall.
I am aware that VAT is due to increase, but I still think that there will be better deals available when the fields start filling up with unsold cars again.
Havent most manufacturers now ramped down production drastically, or do you think two years into the economic slowdown / recession car manufacturers havent thought to do that, thus greatly reducing the risk of subsequent massive stock build up?
Sounds like a bit of a long shot. Forego £1140 of 'free' cash on the off chance that Vauxhall build that much of an excess of cars that they have to discount them by more than a third to shift them?0 -

I would say that 99.99% of us have to compromise when we buy a car.
But if the Corsa is what the OP actually wants?davetrousers wrote: »
£10k for a 1 litre Corsa is WAY overpriced, simpe as that.
Agreed - but the O/P is not being asked to pay that. The amount financed with NIL deposit (other than the scrappage allowance trade in - which is just a discount with smoke and mirrors) is £6750. Doesnt sound expensive to me?davetrousers wrote: »
With reference to the being able to afford it: 5 years is quite a financial commitment, who knows what lies ahead? Maybe a second hand car could be had for a similar monthly payment but a loan repaid over only 3 years. I would strongly urge the OP to consider this, but alas I am not going to research this for them, maybe someone else will.
Agreed. Worth looking at.davetrousers wrote: »

You mean the post whereby your first 'smart' response got retorts like this?
"How on earth do you know if we can afford this car or not????? For all you know, we could be on £10k and year or £100k a year!!!!"
"Was just asking for advice on what loans we could get to make this cheaper, not some smart !!!! anwers on if we could afford the car......He's worked bloody hard for the past 5 years to get a degree, worked and done the uni course at the same time and this is a reward for him, so he doesnt have to rely on his mother's car all the time!!!!"
Yes, i can imagine you dont want a repeat of that again. :rolleyes:0 -
You obviously enjoyed that thread too then......0

Phew some debate going on here:eek: Thanks for all the comments
My original question was can anyone see any flaws in the advert?? it just seemed too good to be true and wanted to get 2nd opinions before I go down to the dealer and have a test drive and mention this to them.
Is there anything else I should bear in mind when visiting a dealer, unfortunately I do not have anyone to come with me so want to know what Im talking about, scary
The reason I am going for a new car really is the fact it should be covered by warranty. As I am starting a new job travelling over 100 miles per day I need something that if something did go terribly wrong I wouldnt have to shell out. I can afford £135 a month easily and for a new car I feel thats quite good. The small engine and low fuel costs is another factor.
Im just so confused arrrgggghhhh. I am torn between Corsa, Peugeot 207, Ford Fiesta and now maybe Toyota Yaris (I like the sportier looking small cars)
currently I have a Peugeot 106 that even 9 year olds are laughing at me in:rotfl: its dented and rattling...So feel its time to have a car I feel proud of0 -
Edited, I misread the post as the 106 being 9 years old..0

Best advice, do not agree to, or sign anything, ignore the sales spiel, tell them you will go away and think about it.
Leave them your phone number, nothing else.
The deal, or better will still be there.;)0 -
Ok but then what happens if its a real good deal, will they ring me up and offer me better? If I just walk away will they just leave it?
Will dealerships throw in an extras on new cars?0
