Gosh I never thought there would be as many people crazy about Kenwoods! :j
I'm still looking for a 901 but at least i've got the other machines to keep me going lol!0 -
Hi guys I'm new here, been reading your posts, good reading. I went through this earlier in the year I really wanted to get a bargin off ebay, but my birthday was near and my mum said she would club together with everyone to get me a Classic KM400, they just went down in price as they were revising the model, so they brought me a new one. I am happy with it, since it cost me nothing and so far have made cakes and biscuits mostly for the kids, will be looking out for attachments later on in the year. I think the old ones are better and the splash guards are really silly, but I do like my chef and am pleased at the results I get.

DomesticGoddess I have to agree, by the time i've finished faffing about with the splash guard I could have mixed the stuff by hand!
I either chuck a towel over it or duck out of the way lol!
I've made it my mission to get a 901 and keep the 701 as well... you can never have too many KC's :rotfl:0 -

Ain't that the truth - I am paring down my collection to what I consider my absolute essentials but still have two 1950's A700 chefs, a 1950's A706 Major, A701 chef and a PM900 Major, plus various attachments to fit the different models. I just sold an A901 but want to buy another one in better condition.
Dh disagrees on how many I need - especially as my current kitchen is 4' square! What does he know.:p

Do you use them all, Lynne? Do you use different models for different jobs?0

eerrrrrrrrrrmmmmmm... well not really!
Majors can do bigger batches of stuff, so I'll use the major for example if I'm doing a big load of crumble topping or a big batch of bread dough.
The 1950's mixers all work really well but are more for display because I am a 1940's - 1950's kitchenalia freak. (though I do use them from time to time for fun)
I mostly use my trusty A701 for everyday things. The 900 series attachments all fit on my pm900 major, and I have a potato peeler that only fits the major, so the major gets used lots as well, but not as much as the A701.
Nobody needs more than one Chef. An A701 or an A901 can do all the jobs anyone could possibly want. I am just greedy.
~Lynn;)
Now I am going to have to put a chef in my avatar.
Whohoo! it worked!:happylove0 -
It's really funky. Just saw one like that on Ebay. Said it was 1949.0

Those old 700 series are a thing of beauty! I would love to own one for display.
You are very lucky, I scour the carboots every weekend but around here, people must love their KC's as there are never any for sale0 -
well, I didn't find anything at all at the car boot sale. You know when you do a car boot sale yourself and you get mobbed when you are trying to unpack the car? I should imagine that KC stuff is the kind of things they pick up so that there's nothing left by the time I get out of bed.0
