Not sure about how kitchenaid and the 901's directly compare, but they're not exactly in the same price bracket. From reports on ebay and the like people are saying that the older versions of kenwood are preferable to the newer, as they are more sturdy. Maybe the same applies to kitchenaid?

Lovely to see you posting brokenwings, I remember you from the debt free board, we had lightbulb moments at around the same time: how are things going?

    Theres a b&w 901 on ebay - and i want it lol
anyone have any idea how much these usually sell for?
  • click on the completed items box on the left when you do your search and you will seem that they seem to go for anything from say £20 to £60+. The postage has to be taken into account too because they are heavy

    Hiya!
Been busy in garden clearing out (4 trips to dump!) why do only weeds grow like mad - brambles thick as my thumb but raspberries are still teeny!
Anyway on the subject of kenwoods - I got one off ebay recently and paid just over £50 including p&p. I got a 901 with blender, whisk and K beater. It was lovely and clean, although a tad noisy! But I have been reliably informed by the cognoscenti on MSE that it is to be expected!:)

I got a dough hook separately as wanted to make bread but am not sure if is really necessary! Haven't got round to bread yet - been too busy wrestling with weeds!

I lurked on ebay for a while to suss out prices then went for it with a last 30sec or so manual snipe! What a high!

I think mine was good value for money as seller sent it straight away and it was very well packed and clean with no marks at all.
There always seem to be a good selection on ebay - bide your time and you will find a good one at a good price.
    Best of luck!

Does anyone know if the glass pyrex bowl from a 701 will fit a 901 machine? It wont fit my new km001 which is a shame as its a nice bowl.

I just tried it, it fits fine!!

The really early ones for the A700 don't fit though, they have Kenwood written on top of the little handley bits.
