ooo - I'm famous! What a bargain, eh? Must be the garish orange colour but I love all that retro stuff. Unfortunately it didn't come with a dough hook, so I am having to bid on one of those too. And downloading instructions from the link on this site. I'm very excited - I'd been watching it all afternoon! This is my first Kenwood Chef so I have nothing to compare it to, but will let you know what I think of it when it comes.0

Yes, I've noticed that alot of them don't come with dough hooks either, and that is one accessory I would like. I love the retro orange too! Bet you can't wait to get it!Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94
Current debt: £14,000.00

If you turn it over completely there is a little metal plate that has the model number engraved on it. They do look different, have different shaped outlet covers etc. and the A701's are usually white with light blue, navy blue or grey trim, while the A901's are usually white with black trim or orange with brown trim.
If you look at a few pictures on ebay you'll be able to notice a difference.

I couldn't find the link - where is it? When I went to the Kenwood site mentioned I kept getting "you are not authourised to view this page" ?
Many thanks!!!

Try this:
http://www.kenwoodservice.co.uk/instructions/UK/
The A701A instructions are on the second line down. I had the same problem with the error message, but got to this via a bit of rooting round the site
Perhaps someone who knows about these things can edit it on the manuals thread?
BTW I went home and told my OH about my new gadget and told him all the things I had learned about the different model series and he thinks I have now become a bit anoraky about it - perhaps he should meet your partner and they can discuss!? Thanks for all the info Lynn!0 -
Hi again
Yes I did get a Kenwood chef. I'm very annoyed though as I bid for a 901 on ebay and then when I checked it over, I found out it was a 701! The seller gave me some money back, but i'd already paid out on costs to pick it up (45 mins away) so I feel a bit hard done to.
Anyway, I'm still going to look out for a 901 as I love the Kenwoods. Yes please report back on how you get on with your 'new' one :T0 -
Hi Leonie - apart from the disappointment of not getting what you paid for (same kind of thing has happened to me in the past - so annoying), how have you found what you actually got? Do you want the 901 in addition to the 701 or to replace it? I'm hoping that I get what I have paid for - starting to have doubts/insecurities now!:undecided0

No I dont actually want a 701 as I have already got all the accessories for my brand new km001 and they wont fit a 701, only the 901.
What i'll do is put this 701 on ebay and get a 901.
I wouldnt worry, I think my problem was a one off. The woman advertised it as a 901 as a genuine mistake, she said. I didnt realise she lived quite so far away when I bought it so when I told her it wasnt what I expected, she said I could take it back for a full refund, however i'd already wasted 45 mins of petrol on the journey and I didnt want to take it back and waste anymore! (she wouldnt help me out on the petrol as she said it was a genuine mistake that she had listed it as a cheaper model, bit cheeky I think!)0 -
oo heck im even more confused now lol
im looking out for a new kenwood too
think im settled on a 901 but have seen a kitchenaid that i really like the look of... anyone know how good they are?
also - this makes me sound really dim, but is a bender and a liquidiser the same thing? do they do the same job?
any help much appreciated ladies, thanks.0
