Thank you both, I do feel better now I've got it off my chest. Bad enough having the debt but to argue about it makes it doubly annoying!
WHDFW - I totally relate to what you say, when OH had a payrise a few years ago he had a brain wave that he would transfer the extra £500!!! to his own account as his monthly spends and he really, really didn't get it. He overlooks that he has golf membership for £58 a month and I paid for 3 year membership with the gym which equates to about £3 a week. I'm sure we'll get there, just slowly.
Looked at finances and decided to cancel denplan, just cost £40 for a filling and we are paying £26 a month for denplan for check ups, x rays and a clean - money would be better put in a savings account for the just in case as it doesn't even cover fillings!
Also been motivated to have a look at the ebay stuff still bagged up and there is loads and it's all really good stuff - really pleased. We're going to put it on as a joint effort this week and see what happens.

I so so want him to help me but it is like a brick wall sometimes, I just want some breathing space from it all.
 This was ME today! We had a big ding dong about the house and money, which all ended in tears - mine. Must be something in the air. Glad you feel better thoughWorkingHardDFW wrote: »
I've gone through mega periods of feeling sorry for myself and getting cross at the long road that was ahead but during this journey I've learnt so much at every stage. This will keep us DF going forwards since I don't want to end up in debt again.
I hope it helps.
It helped me WHDFW - thanks!I've been feeling sorry for myself this weekend
But I have to give myself a talking to, put it into perspective and plow onwards. What would we do without this forum? The support is fantastic, I couldn't survive without it.
Have a good week everyone!0 -
Sounds like we're in a similar place, horrible isn't it! If only I could wave a magic wand......
I think it just helps to be positive and busy, trying not to dwell on it too much. I love it when OH says "how much have we paid off this debt of yours!":mad: Like it's nothing to do with him, he's not sat on the settee we bought, tv we watch etc etc. I do love him but I hate the underlying resentment of the debt.

That would drive me up the wall. Perhaps you need to make him acknowledge the contributions he made to the debt next time he says anything, and if he pleads ignorance, tell him it is not a valid excuse as he has therefore unwittingly run up some of the debt through not knowing how much was available and spending anyway. Suggest he looks at the figures to see which bits he is to blame for, and maybe that will help get his head around it.
Sorry, not my business, but that just made my blood boil reading that.(Where's that bloody rolly-eyed smiley when you need him?)

Where are the rolly eyes and confused look gone - don't they know they are required for our everyday frustrations!!?
Have sat down with him before and gone over it, acknowledges it and then back to square one.
Not even going to check bank today, as it will only show a charge so no point even torturing myself further!
Busy day ahead and then ebay to do tonight.

Hi IMD, charges are a pain. I think you are doing the right thing, dont torture yourself over it. As for things with oh, to take away from the resentment why not write a list to yourself of all the things you love about him and remind yourselves of those in the difficult times!, and have a goal board/record, on one side detailing what your debt was spent on so it is made clear to him that the debt is a shared one, and on the other side your progress together as a team in tackling it, and your expected DFD etc. Just a thought, might just get the message through! Take careMy debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T0
