  • Wow the signature update is impressive. Well done, small but positive steps will get you there. Next stop £70K :D

I'm with you on the tyre thing. Mine needs two new tyres plus OH's car needs its insurance and atlhough we put money by there is not quite enough in the pot to pay for it all this month. I'm planning to shop around for the tyres and insurance obviously. In fact I may do the ins tonight?

Keep going and making such positive progress

  • Thank you for all your lovely comments :) Has certainly given me a boost and my best friend is also very proud of my achievements, is kind of nice having someone to share it all with!

Had a lovely day out courtesy of Tesco Clubcard, should have took a picnic but we didn't know where we could have eaten it so spent silly amount on food, but didn't feel too bad as we had saved on entry fee - kids had a brilliant day. ANother clubcard day planned for Friday and we have restaurant vouchers as well, so a definite freebie :j

Knackered tonight, will go and have a nosey around and then off to bed....

Small thought, am due £120 from Quidco, should I put it in savings for xmas or pay it off debts so I would be nearer £74,500.....

Hi IMD - I tend to have a target amount I want to pay off each month - and then try to generate extra cash to pay for xmas, birthday and luxuries - that is what a lot of my £10 a day challenge money gets used on. I am aiming once my money starts to come thro to pay of about £1K a month tho which with the mortgage payment is about half our joint income.....

I know some people try to throw every spare penny at debt - I think that is admirable - however I cannot live up to that standard so I try to find a way that works for me and the family. I think if you can be debt free within 5 or so years from the sort of debt youve got that doesn't seem too unrealistic....

    Does that help?

Thanks for those words of wisdom SH - our mortgage payment is about the equivalent of my income  The quidco money will definitely help with xmas and I suppose 5 years for my horrendous debt isn't too bad - thank you :)

When I joined this site we were adding to our debt by about £1K a month - now we aim to pay off £1K a month - that is a £2K spending switch! You will probably find the same - that if you were overspending before - it was probably by a consistent amount - and therefore not only have you knocked that on the head - but you are now reducing your debt! Don't underestimate your progress!

Keep things realistic. I did get a bonus this year that also allowed me to pay chunks off my debt - it is always worth doing that. Because my job is insecure - I deliberately just paid minimum payments for a while and saved the rest - Good job as I was unemployed nearly 6 months! Martin recommends you spend your savings on your debt - particularly if your aprs are very high. Because most of my debt was 0% it actually made more sense for me to "stooze" and keep some emergency money

    Find what works for you.

You beat me to it BTD! Just shopping around for pet insurance and then ready to report for duty :)

Managed to beat pet insurance renewal quote, surprise, surprise! Got about £160 cashback waiting now. Did have the option to pay by annual or DD and took DD as it was £2.00 cheaper and it means I can keep the money in savings for xmas as needs must this year otherwise I'm going to struggle later.

Had a good bonus today, won £66 on the lottery :j:j:j For my sins I do play but have won about £300 so far this year and I only pay £2 a week so made my money back this year :)

With half term we took the kids out two days and used vouchers courtesy of Mr T. Got a meal out and two day trips. Ended up spending about £60 on top of the vouchers but kind old National Lottery has now paid for that :j:j We have had a brilliant time with kids and without the vouchers it would have cost us £180 so we have lived the life of luxury this week!

A&L have kindly offered me and OH 0% deals for six months just as some other deals run out, will have to try and extend credit limit to move a few over but if I can't it's not the end of the world!

Car is booked in for MOT this week so fingers crossed it's not too bad...........
