Really stressful day in the IMD household today, kids, animals, work, money  :wall: After a lot of talking and crying (kids not me), I treated them to fish and chips at the cafe which they have been asking to do for ages for the pricely sum of £9.90. Just one of those moments when we needed to get out of house and do something good together, then had a free play in the park and lots of cuddles :) Master IMD is sad at school and Miss IMD is acting like a teenager.

Spent very little so far this week so not going to beat myself up about £9.90 which went a long way towards happy children and happy Mummy.

Achieved a lot whilst kids were at school, changed light bulbs, touched up some paintwork, had legs waxed......OH will no longer think he is sleeping with a man :rotfl:

Mystery shop tomorrow :j bit nervous about it but £10 for a few minutes down the road sounds like a good plan.

Planning to be up early tomorrow morning and cook the kids breakfast and sit down with them and have a good send off instead of the shocker that was this morning. Just had a lovely pedicure and foot soak, chocolate and fire burning away merrily.

Fingers crossed a better day tomorrow............

Not best start to a day. CC we use for OH's work has 0 balance left, so I assume we are due charges on that  Haven't seen any receipts from him so had no idea how close to the limit we were and had even transferred £150 over to cover any shortfall. Was going to go shopping today and I use this card, as it's a Mr T card, so now have !!!!!! all to go shopping with :( Am praying to the gods that OH gets paid tomorrow as we have about £30 to last us. I have two CC's which have nothing on them so can use them if needs must but don't want to.

Hate this end of the month feeling, happens each and every month even when I think I'm in control. Makes me reassess yet again the money we spend that we don't need to.....

I just want to end a month in credit for a change and it never happens...

  • Hi IMD, i remember that end of month feeling aswell, when you would have £20 left in the bank to last about a week. I used to be so embarassed as me and oh are in fairly well paid jobs but every month was the same! This cycle stopped for me when i used a spending diary- it really opened my eyes to the endless takeaways, lunches, clothes etc. Previously we would easily have spent over £100 every week eating out or on takeways:eek:. It will get easier:D you just have to stick with it, the first few months are definately the hardest. I think its all about forming new habits. For me i try and be more organised with meal planning and have a rough idea of what i am making for the week and have all the ingredients in- avoids last minute trips to the chippy! Goodluck with the mystery shop:j

Thank you wabl - feeling slightly better this afternoon. Completed my MS and filled in the results.

    Got a lot done today:-
    - Just made enough dough to make 6 pizzas so I can freeze them.
    - Made Dr's appointments etc that I've been putting off
    - Done my MS
    - Done the shopping list, for when we get paid
    - Done the ironing

Just need to walk the dogs and then I may be able to have a relaxing evening.

OH thinks he is getting paid tomorrow and I really hope so as I'm worried a DD is going to come out and we won't have enough to cover it :(

As you said WABL, we earn a LOT of money and to be scrimping at the end of the month is just so stressful and I kind of feel ashamed of it as well.

    Hi IMB

I have read your diary and it's like I'm reading my own (except my stepkids are 15 & 18!)

Don't give up, keep pushing through and remember it's not forever! Our debt is not far off yours and our joint LMB was July this year so we're working right along side you.

My DH and I have just found 2 'hobbies' we both love that are earning us extra pennies by selling the outcome and this is actually funding our 'annual bills' fund at the moment (with Christmas coming we are selling more than usual so making the most of it!)

Anyway, sorry to hi-jack your thread just wanted to say keep going and I am right alonside you :D

Hi IMD - just looked at your signature - how fantastically are you doing?!!! Paid off over £1000 already! Brilliant:T:T:T

you might not feel like its anything much - BUT it is!

ANd I reckon that £9.90 probably was the absolute best use of that money! There are times when treats are necessary - and lets face it, it wasn't the money pit that is Alton Towers or similar;)

Possibly am not making much sense (feeling a bit under the weather today) but wanted to encourage you a bit.;)

Stick with it - it is all part of the learning curve.

But it DOES get better and you DO make headway - just remember, 3 years ago I too owed the best part of £100k on loans and cards........and am now 80% of the way to clearing the lot.

There are days, of course there are, when I still find myself banging my head against a brick wall. I too am counting the mins til payday tomorrow and checking online banking every five mins, because I forgot I have written two cheques (ages ago, but the people that have them keep forgetting to pay them in!) and that particular account doesn't have enough left in it to cover them :o

So, my habits have changed, but I constantly have to reassess them, and remind myself that I am still skint, and therefore cannot afford to make silly mistakes!

Chin up, you'll get there x

Thank you everyone :D It's amazing how one little blip and it can go all go pearshaped!

I know that this time next week my signature will read under £75k and I will be sooo proud of that :j but the constant bank checking is tiring me out today, as the figures aren't going to change or get better

Hypno - your achievement really does inspire me that I will get there at some point it just feels a heck of a long way off at the minute!
