I'm still here if a little knackered! Finally sold last thing on ebay which made a reasonable amount. After much deliberation, me and OH decided to spend money on decorating. Room has needed doing for an absolute age and I was starting to feel embarrassed by it but we have put it off as we can't afford it.

Ebay buyer paid in cash and so used half to pay for decorating. Even better, I found a paint trade shop which I didn't even know about and was just down the road  which did Dulux paints from a certain big DIY shop half price :j:j so got a bargain. Room looks all lovely now and not a penny taken from the bank to do it. Still got abotu £30 from the ebay sale as well sat in a pot for next weeks spends.

Don't think we're over budget this week so far either. And still no CC touched although I was tempted to "dress" the room I didn't give in and it looks fine!

Had to tell OH off this morning, he has took £20 out of the bank (fine) and paid £1.75 withdrawal fee (not fine!)

No plans tonight, maybe a Tesco shop, friends over tomorrow and R&R on Sunday, so pretty cheap weekend coming up. Babysitting crisises next week so will have to use savings for that catastrophe.....

    Lazy Sunday afternoon :)

Just spent an hour sorting out up to date spending diary and spreadsheet. We're doing massively better compared to this time last month but still going to be a bit of a struggle up to paydate.

Went massively over budget on food on Friday shop :( Had friends round for a meal and bought a bit of meat, which we don't normally eat a lot of, and that contributed to the increase. Will have to try and use up some stuff next week to avoid doing a big weekly shop as we are already over budget :(

Childcare an issue this week, so going to see if I can work from home to save cost, fingers crossed, otherwise it's £30 down the drain  Was hoping to not use our "general spends" budget to account for extra food cost and claw some back. No plans for next weekend which makes a nice change and we have spent very little today too.

Hoping we'll be paid on Friday and update figures and exciting things like that which will take debts to under £75k :j:j

Positive start to the week today :)

Got up bright and early and made a beef stew in the slow cooker to try and ease the stress of getting home and making tea. Going to get some dumplings on the way home (shamefully admitting to purchasing rather than making!) but good wholesome food the minute we get in from work :)

Amazon have put some money into bank account, only £5.76 but helps us through this sticky week. Not sure whether OH gets paid this Thursday or next Tuesday and so it is a game of Russian Roulette this week, trying not to get too stressed about it.

Been sensible and mature, Master IMD needs some new clothes, ordinarily off I would go with CC and get them but I am waiting until payday and buy them with my own money. Also have a bracelet that has been repaired which needs collecting, and that can wait until we are paid too.

We went to a Garden Centre yesterday as well and scouted out the sale section, spent £10 on 3 plants that would have cost about £60 new  OH has re-potted them and pruned them and they are as good as new and house looks lovely with them in. We both felt so proud of ourselves for being so sensible and sourcing out a bargain. Does feel good to be working it out together.

Off to get some work started after 45 mins of dawdling......:o

    Productive day continued.

Managed to get day off in week so no kids club extortionate payment :j
Total spend for day was £1 for 12 Yorkshire Puddings so me and kids had a delicious meal all ready and waiting, makes for a much happier household without the stress!

Kids brought letter home from school offering football lessons which they both want to go to but cost £60  this is where the guilt kicks in and I have to say no, we can't afford it :( Deep down I know I'll end up letting them do it and finding a way........

I would potentially say no to the football - it's not forever there will be other opportunities... Altho if you get into the Make £10 a day challenge you might be able to find the money easier. Dooyoo, Bingoport, Quidco, Free Daily Scratchcards - they pay for our luxuries!

Thanks Savingholmes. I know what I SHOULD do, but it's what I do in the end that matters. Considered doing a deal that they do their jobs in house for one month with no payment so that they earn it and I don't give them pocket money for a month?

I really do need to do these extra things for luxuries, have a day off this week, may sit down and get my head round them then. Have got quidco sorted but no idea about anything else?

The £10 a day thread does explain things quite well. People like me could refer you to bingoport - I get amazon vouchers thro them. You have to post 100 words a day across 10 posts and play - you can then cash out your winnings. If you are disciplined you would get £10-15 a month from that even if you weren't particularly lucky. I could refer you if you wanted or you could go direct. I do these things while watching tv.

The free daily scratchcards - certain site like V1rg!n and BUt l1ns do free daily scratchcards - you can withdraw every time you reach £10 B or £5 with V. Min win per play - 10p. Normally twice on Sundays for B.

  • Thanks SH - I'll definitely get back to you on those referrals.

Most exciting thing today is that I have signed up for my first mystery shop :j It's £10, but £10 towards the football?

Nothing spent so far, chilling out, working hard and trying not to spend money - apart from that nothing to report :D
