IMD, re the pet insurance, if you decide it's a necessity, how about deferring it for 6 months or so until the cash-flow eases... and in the interim put ~75% of the premium into a separate "just in case" pot? Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Good evening all!
Had a good day at work, total spend of £1.62 and that was on food for house :j and nothing else. Came home and nearly fainted when peeked at the spending diary and the OH had in fact filled it in after a very small Spar trip and totalled what was leftYes I did nearly faint!
He then discussed with me the opportunity to go out with work and was considering declining due to cost. We then sat down like two adults (grown up people) and discussed how he could afford to go if we budgeted for it next week by not spending our weekly budget. He also acknowledged that he thinks (like it was his idea) that by discussing what we are going to do in advance and budgeting for it (in advance), then it means that we can still do things and not get into debt :wall: Yes!!! I know I've been trying to explain!
So if we are good this week and most of next we will have enough for us to do something nice with the kids as well :j Getting there........

Hi IMD, don't know if this will hinder or help:
One of our springers was sick about 3 weeks ago. A trip to the vets resulted in a stomach upset and a round of drugs = £119. 3 days later he still hadn't stopped being sick so we went back to the vets. 1 x-ray, 3 overnights and a whole round of drugs = £753. What had he done? Swallowed a stone & it had lodged in his intestine. Our springers are only 18 mths old. Without our pet insurance we would be truly stuffed, we only have a £50 excess to pay.........I'd opt for the insurance any day of the week (IMHO)

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!
