We are having three tiers. One will be chocolate sponge, one will chocolate marble and the top tier will be lemon.
It's costing £35 per tier so £105 altogether. It is a friend of my Mum's who is making it, she makes fantastic cakes! And we also get the added bonus of a discount!!
There will be burgundy ribbon round the base of each cake with the crystal over that, all the crystals are going to be clear. Our topper is a monogram one from Ebay. It is just the mirrored one and cost £9.95

This is the effect im hoping to achieve but using round cakes on a 'G' stand rather than the columns.

Plain and stylish in my opinion (but then it was my cake) and I had it made as a coffee cake as its hubbys favourite
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Hi
This was our cake. We ordered a 'celebration' cake rather than a wedding cake as it was half the price. Top tier was chocolate, middle tier was sponge with cream and jam and the bottom tier was fruit cake.
The cake toppers were hand made by a lovely lady I found on ebay. Scary thing is she never met us or saw pictures of us - but they are a pretty accurate representation of us. I was so chuffed when I saw them.
I dont know how to put photos on here so have created an album on photobox if anyone wants a peek.

My Oh came home with a few wedding magazines last night I was flicking through and came to a section on cakes, and there is a trend for cheese cake not the USA type cheesecake, but a great rudy slab of smelly cheese! how romantic.
My MIL to be is making our cake, no specific instructions from me apart from it must have at least 3" of marzipan and at least 2" of royal icing on.0 -
Mmmm.. I wanted a choccy woccy dooda cake (they have a cafe that serves lovely HUGE slices of cake and pure melted chocolate as hot chocolate...)
but in reality mine was an M&S celebration cake with iced roses on (the iced roses bought from someone on ebay).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
THIS is a link to our wedding cake. £40 from M&S and it was delicious!
That's funny, i was looking at those last night, i was thinking of the pink one as a brides cake and the chocolate one for a grooms cake!
It's hard to tell how big they are from a pic though, can you remember how many people you served with it nat??Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Its crazy how much the prices go up once wedding is attached. I like this cake from cooplands
The party one which serves 60 is £185! They also do this celebration cake
The party size is £72.10! For a 3 tier of the top one to serve 125 people works out at a whopping £455:eek: compared to just £154.30 for the bottom one. It's the same cake description so the only difference is shape and the amount of flowers.Crazy0
