Did you really expect anything else from one of these cowboy companies? Likewise, if you want to sell your car, don't go to the one with the most annoying advert ever broadcast, as their offer will be similar.
What is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.
  • I had some gold to sell, i contacted telly sites and internet sites, NONE of them would tell me how much they paid for any gold, so how do you know what your gold is worth, they are all a rip off, playing on peoples ingnorance of the market, i live i southend-on-sea a local shop Cheque Station checked my gold ,they told me how much they pay per grm [£6.50] for 9ct, and i saw how much it all weighed, i'm told the internet sites offer as little as £2.00 grm, they are a con, go to a local shop, kevin.:T

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone sold any gold for cash. Lots of ads on TV for it at the mo but don't know how reliable they are or if they do the best deals. Would love to hear people's opinions of where I should sell my scrap gold.
    Thanks

yes i have sold scrap gold for cash, i shopped around first and was told so many different stories about its condition lowering the value, if it was hallmarked or not i tried mays pawnbrokers for just less than 100grams of 9 carat gold i was £440, albermarle and bond also offered a ridiculous price which i cant remember, i refused and looked on the internet forums and reviews to see if i should trust a postal gold company READ ABOUT IT AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE CRAZY TO USE ONE. So i googled sell gold in manchester and came across a company called MANCHESTER GOLD COMPANY i phoned them for a quote and they said the rate changes daily (which i already new) but that day they was paying £8.10 a gram on 9 carat regardless of its condition or hallmarks, so i popped into their office in manchester and received £785, a great, honest service and a hefty chunk of my holiday, thanks manchester gold company.

some internet sites do try and con you with £2 per gram but £6.50 is still low that is £630.50 for 97gram which the manchester gold company gave me £785, that is quite a difference over £150.
  • i know you can be easily fooled if you dont know much about gold and its value i sold mine to the manchester gold company and recieved £8 a gram for all my broken bits of 9 carat gold jewellery. well worth a look!
  • I have just sold some ruby/diamond earrings, I spent ages doing the reasearch and most companies just wanted to pay the gold content (3 grams) they were 18ct and cost me £120 about a year ago. (for my girlfriend) Most companies, cashmygold, cash4gold, postal gold, gould2pounds (when I managed to get a price) were offing between £30 - £40 as it was just the gold they wanted. I ended up speaking to one company who did buy them for £110 because they resell them apparently. I used jewellery4cash

Anyway hope this helps with your elizabeth duke stuff.

    Best of luck

    Tom
  • From past experience Gold buyers that have expensive tv commercials are the biggest rip off. I have dealt with Manhattan Buyers inc. They are located in NY but also send you out a free gold kit and they are by far the most honest once i have found.

So what value would I put on the customs declaration I would have to fill in ? and who would pay the import duty at the US end, would it come out of the money they would pay me or do you think the buyers would cover it themselves ? Why bother when there are loads of good gold buyers in this country like Hatton Garden Metals or Do Buy 925 Ltd. :rotfl:
  • Hi has anyone had dealings with Philip Cottrell in Spain? or his company Forensic Wealth Management?. They are supposed to be gold dealers but the only information i can find is their own press releases. I have also discovered that Philip Cottrell is a fine wine expert, fine art expert and property investment expert. i would like some more information on Philip Cottrell please as i may of been very stupid in trusting him.

You sent gold abroad? If they are a scam you are unlikely ro see it ever again.

Whats gold worth these days anyway? This thread started ages ago proces are old.

I was in the Birmingham jewellery quarter last week and spotted signs for £9+ per gram.
