  • Just out of interest I wonder how many people who have received this fraudulent amount taken from their account (£30 to O2(UK)LTD PREPAY
    SLOUGH) are registered with PayPal.

I never encountered any problems with fraud on my bank account until I used PayPal for the first time.

Its pretty common to have a PayPal account, especially if you shop on ebay.

Just wondered if all who had had the same problem also have a PayPal account?

Not true (at least as far as doing it via the O2 website). You also need the address.

  • Found this thread today via google.

I'm going through this for the 2nd time.

6 months ago we had 6 x £10 02 top ups, none of us have pay as you go. We called fraud at RBS who sent the forms out and refunded our money.

2 weeks ago we found another £90 worth of transactions again for 02 top ups. Called the bank, got our money back, only to be followed 3 days later with a letter from the fraud department at the bank saying that we had breached the terms and conditions by not keeping our card safe and they only refunded our money this time as a gesture of goodwill. They also said it has to be someone we know, who knows we got a new card, however, what the bank failed to see was we didn't ask for a new card, the bank sent out a new one with "enhanced fraud protection"!! So the only person who knew we were getting a new card was the bank!

We have a meeting in half an hour with the bank to discuss the rather accusatory letter. If they are going to continue to be funny with us and there is the ongoing chance if it happens again the bank will not refund our money then bye bye RBS!

I'll get back to you with what is said.
  • Im so fed up with this, just seen on my Natwest statement online..

    ORANGE (A/PG/01) , DARLINGTON
    O2(UK)LTD PREPAY , SLOUGH

Both for £30 have been taken out of my account, only companies ive used in the last month were Vistaprint, Subway (Card machine)

Now what really annoys me is there is no 24hour hotline to cancel a debit card. Seems like SLOUGH is a regular!!!

    Ive used vistaprint.
Ive also used those stupid cash machines where they charge you on the motorway services
I think Slough is where O2 are based
  • Well if its address details that were goto hold of aswell then I cant think of anyone else other than Vistaprint that is making me suspicious as the checkout system didnt seem to be very thorough, there was a choice to use Paypal and I always think if Paypal is an option, then use it, but I didnt :(.

Makes me so angry the scum that do this. Also why dont companies all use the 3d secure checks!!!! Especially 02. I thought 3d secure on maestro was a requirement for payment gateways now.

  • Hi, well our meeting with the bank went ok. There seems to be some suspicion over our new (now old and cancelled) debit card as we didn't order it and it appears the bank are at a loss as to who did, we weren't due a new one and it was only hubby who got a new card, I didn't (same joint account). So at the moment this is what they are investigating. They are also investigating why, when our new card (the one we didn't order) was activated (by us) why the old one wasn't cancelled by the bank as it should have been! Sounds suspect doesn't it?

Anyway I alerted the bank that this 02 prepay voucher fraud was not an isolated case, but they seemed surprised at that. The bank said it would take a few days to look into, but if I don't hear anything by Monday lunch time I'll call them for an update.

The bank rep. called fraud directly and told them of our fear that if it happens again we won't get our money back, their answer was one thing at a time! (pretty un reassuring!).

To the person above saying about reporting fraud on a debit card, our bank is the same, no phone line to deal with it on a weekend (only credit cards). I think the reasoning behind that is the fraud on the credit card is the banks money, the fraud on the debit card is our money...it's obvious what they worry about! Anyway what we had to do was call the 24hr customer services line and cancel our card.

Sooo frustrating that we work hard for everything we have and these scumbags get away with it.

One of my friends mum works in banking and says next time we must report it to the police and get a crime number which will help with trying to get any monies returned in the future.

I'm so scared of it happening again that it almost makes me want to lift all my disposable income and keep it under the mattress, I think it would be safer there..lol.
