Oooo Floss, another twin!
You've done very well so far... ticking along nicely!
I'm hoping that the next few months go really slowly so I can catch up with myself... must get on and sort out what's going on at my reception, have booked and paid the deposit but haven't done anything since!
Need to decide what we're wearing, thankfully there's no requirement for a proper dress but finding something suitable for us both is proving difficult!0 -
Hi all! I'm getting married on Saturday 25th September! I have my venue, registrar, invitations and dresses sorted, and thats it so far. Just started looking at cakes and I can't believe how expensive they are! It's his second marriage (and my third!)
but definately third time right!! So we are having a nice small wedding with family only and no evening do as we'll be in the centre of town so just going to invite friends to join us at the bar :beer:Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0 -
Can I join? We're getting married on Friday 3rd September!

Booked registrar
Booked venue - town hall
Booked reception - local hotel
Finalised guest list
Got my dress - needs a couple of alterations

Found invites - to be bought this week
Found favours - boxes with 5 sugared almonds - need to buy them (Tesco)
Found rings - need to go & order them
Hair booked
Transport to reception booked
Need to do:
Find car for me & BM to town hall
Decide the cake design with our cake lady

Decide which suits / waistcoats
Decide menu
Decide the music & readings & who's doing what
Find underwear, shoes, veil (?), hairstyle & jewellery for me
Book make-up & beauty stuff
You scare me - we're getting married the same day and have done a LOT less! Ah well, it'll get sorted eventually.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

We met up with our Caterers on Saturday.
We explained about the 'concept' of wedding breakfast we wanted - based on our liking of tapas / meze / fondue style meals and wanting people to be able to pick & choose ....they seemed v.concerned the food would go cold .... anyway after discussing practicalities like the room layout ......... we've decided on:
25 guests inc us. Seated at 1 big long table - double width. So they put dishes food into middle of it and people help themselves. They will keep some food back to keep it hot / bring more out when its needed.
Ditto wine / juice / water (except that needs keeping cold not hot.).
Might have to get a bit friendly with people stacking/passing dirty plates etc back. But I said i wanted relaxed / informal so thats fine!
Starter/nibbles - vegetables with hummus dip, satay chicken, vol-au-vonts with various fillings - all to be served besides the lake with some champers...well okay Cava whilst we are having piccies.
Then we will move inside for
Main - Lemon chicken, beef bourguignon, vegetable risotto, new potatoes, cauliflower in some fancy sauce, greek salad
Dessert - Apple tart tatin, profiteroles, fresh fruit salad
Then tea/coffee.
Evening food (for 40guests) - bacon baguettes / cheese & tomato baguettes + wedding cake. (baguette will be homemade as the chef is french!)
REALLY EXCITED! They were really lovely, helpful and it made me feel v.confident they will do a great job and look after us.. They also has offered us some silver candelabras for the table - which sound perfect. and purple table scatter crystals and she has some purple napkins we can use. YAY. So don't have to look for/ pay extra for any of those:j

TBH, the BM dress only got sorted on Saturday just gone, the reg & venue & reception were booked a couple of weeks ago while off work, and the other bits have just sort of happened!
Haven't really kicked in with the organising yet - invites are the next thing....0 -
'k Dinah & Floss... when do you anticipate sending your invites? I was thinking end of May / early June (isn't the unofficial rule 3mths before)??
I'm halfway through making mine, pocketfolds and they're folded and glued, just need to print off the inserts and glue / insert them too.
I haven't made contact with my venue since October/November time... when do you think / anticipate that you'll be finalising the finer points of the day with yours??0 -
Ours are going to be early, as my H2B is Irish and all his family and friends are still over there, or in the US, and so need more notice to book flights and time off work. So we're hoping to get the invites sent out by the end of March. Eeek, thats not that far away!
I'm actually signed off work at the moment, I've knackered my knee and have an MRI in 2 weeks, so I really should be able to start getting things sorted.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

We have to pay 50% of the o/s balance 3 months before, need to book a day into OH's diary as we have to see the Registrar that week too. Then we can arrange menu tasting & finalise everything as we get into August, with last figures in by 3 days before0
