Booked suits yesterday. I'd really like to get the flowers booked before my op, but this weekend my future MIL is flying over (hasnt seen her son in a year, suddenly decided she misses him!) so it won't be done then, and the following weekend we complete on the house so might be a little busy then! I'll find out on Friday exactly when the op is. Really excited to see our house again, I've started scouring ebay for local pick up only furniture - solid wood dining tables and 6 chairs for £50 is a bargain in my eyes!
I really wish I had a better relationship with my MIL2B, but she hates me for being English, and I can't change that! I've tried being nice, and she ignores me completely, if I am snide back, she starts crying to my fiance that she can't believe her son hates her so much as to marry an English woman just to punish her. As much as I am dreading this weekend though, H2B is worse, he's so nervous, he keeps apologising to my parents for anything she might say. My mum took him aside last night and told him he'd live with us 18 months, they both love him to bits, and nothing his mother can say or do over one weekend could ever change that opinion of him. He really relaxed then bless him.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Your poor h2b there is nothing worse than being like this. I can't believe his mum is like that? Where is she from that she has such problem with him marrying an english woman?
This weekend has been eventful one for us too. We went to the house we are buying and measured up for sofas and curtains. Ordered a sofa from DFS  (I hate that I did this but I love the sofa and have given into the commerce). Picked up my wedding ring, paid my wedding dress and go to try it on with shoes and jewellery - I loves them both.
can you believe we have 116 days until we are brides. eck.:T“A house is made of walls and beams;a home is built with love and dreams.”2012 Challenge to buy most gifts and non essentials from money made online.:money:0 -
They're Irish, most people don't have an issue with the English, recognising we can not change the history from before we were born, but some people can really hold a grudge!
I'm glad you mentioned wedding rings - I'd forgotten a bloke is coming over tonight to discuss rings with us!

Hi Dinah,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. My Dad is Irish and my Mum's English - my Dad's family have never really forgiven him for marrying an English girl. They've been married 33 years now!
Certain members of my Irish family call us (my brother & sister & me) the "Mongrels" because we're half & half. Pleasant!
Anyway, I was on this thread because our wedding date is 4th September this year - getting close now0 -
In a way we're lucky in that his parents are (almost) divorced - seperated 6 years now. His dad has acccepted me completely and been very supportive. Just his mother who is so damned rude! We're currently in an arguement with her over the first dance, she is insistant that it isn't just the two of us, but my parents and her and her ex too - she is determined the wedding will be them getting back together - he is bringing his girlfriend and has no interest in getting back together at all! Had a bloke around from Smooch (God I hate that word) rings last night, offered the best price on a platinum wedding band by a long way. About 2/3 of the previous best price at an independant local jewellers nearby. However his paladium ring price for H2B was quite expensive, but he said they do price match - so he's going to take his mother ring shopping this weekend and see where is the best price. The bloke had a huge range, about 150 rings for each of us to choose from, more than we've seen anywhere else. The funny thing is though he got to writing down our choices and he laughed - despite having 150 rings each to choose from we'd picked exactly the same ring style, just his was 6mm where mine was 2mm.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I am so so sorry you are both experiencing such hostile remarks and feelings. I am Northern Irish and know there are so many dinosaurs knocking about our island being so mean but hopefully time will change it EVENTUALLY.
On wedding note - got so many RSVP;s this week woo woo:j:j“A house is made of walls and beams;a home is built with love and dreams.”2012 Challenge to buy most gifts and non essentials from money made online.:money:0 -
We're trying to get hold of the photographer to arrange a meeting, and also waiting for my ring to come into Goldsmiths - it's an 18ct yellow version of a white gold one they have in store, so has had to be ordered from their supplier.0

Me had a stroke of luck with the rings at the weekend, H2B went to get a competitors price on some, while his mother was visiting for the weekend, and she paid for them for us! So that's £1000 cut from the budget in one fell swoop!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
