Grinkle is a stunning £87 cheaper than Wynyard, so pretty much no difference! Outside has the very obvious problem of this being the UK and it will probably rain! Plus I really don't like the idea of being in the mud on my wedding day, weddings should be pretty and elegant in my mind.
Ha! Dunno where I got the idea it was cheaper from then! Yeah I know what you mean about weddings being elegant. And our weather is really unreliable so it's hard to plan outside stuff.
The suitcase was a bargain!
I know you probably wouldn't want to do this, because you worked so hard to get rid of it all in the first place! But could you and NIM not borrow some money for the wedding, then you'd have more for your deposit. Then you could pay it off on a bigger timescale, once you're married and have your house. Just a thought..
I was just thinking that I need to back up all my many pictures etc and had a look on Tesco for a hard drive - just got a 500GB one for £44.99 reduced from £109, plus I had discount and a code so got it £35! Think it deserves a swirly Martin! :money:Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Well Dinah it sounds like your not going to compromise on much here so you will have to prepare yourself for a hard year ahead with lots of savings to make.
I hope you reach your aim, I really do, but please consider your health and also enjoying life as well. Not much point in achieving these aims if you have a miserable year trying to get there.
Please don't think I am being a kill joy but you said in one of your posts that you were going to take the attitude of seeing where life takes you. I hope this attitude hasn't been lost in getting caught up with a wedding.
I think everyone on here pretty much agrees that you should have the wedding you want so please don't feel you have to justify what you spend on your wedding. If you want a big wedding, have one! It's all about the happy memories you have to look back onTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Re: the FitFlops, mine rubbed when I first got them but they're broken in now and they're so comfy that I'd live in them if my feet weren't so cold all the time! I want some FitFlop boots but they're about £200 so I think I'll have to do without!
That's a good Swirly Martin Deal on the hard drive Zig! I'll have to tell my Mum about that as she seems to have broken hers, amazingly it isn't working after being dropped into a bowl of cereal and her laptop landed on top of it!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Oh dear Birdie, hehe! And well done Zig, mine cost much more than that, tho I don't have a clue how big it is (about 5"x3"...)

It has crossed my mind, but we'd need to buy the house before borrowing anything, as any debt is deducted from deposit saved. Its an option, granted not a great one but its something to consider.

I figure one year of pushing and cut backs now is better than being stuck living somewhere we hate for the next 5 years. But maybe thats a bit of a nieve view and everyone has to live somewhere rubbish for a while and pay their dues.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I really doubt I'd be happy with a little wedding though, I want all mine and NIMs friends and family there with us, thats what a wedding is all about surely, celebrating with those you love?!
In which case, I'll grab my pom poms and say You Can Do This. I mean, you're the girl who cleared 16k worth of debt in 250 days! 6k(?) for a Wedding is peanuts! (Yep, this is my game-face!)
It'll be hard work, but if you really want both you have my full support (completely with cheerleading!)

Lol! You never know, both of you could really improve and could go into a wedding dress making business!
Dinah - there are lots of corners that can be cut when having a wedding such as getting bridesmaid dresses in department stores, or getting them made, ditching favours, getting a friend with a posh car to bring you to the church etc etc

Oooh, well we can make the bridesmaids' dresses - then you're BOUND to look stunning and elegant by comparison! (and in your own right of course, didn't mean to sound horrible!).
Yep, shall I see you in the lobby about ten to six? Am bit scared, do we need to do our measurements?zigmeister wrote: »I have just found out that I'm going to be with reception for my next teaching placement!
