Good idea!
I'm at uni, and I have used the gym there a couple of times before (when I was getting it free cuz I lived on campus) but I felt too intimidated by all the skinny girls!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Yeah gyms are intimidating places! I never really know if I'm using machines right and struggle to balance on terra firma let alone on a cross trainer!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Cinny why are you on the diet if you want to put on weight?!
I don't want to put weight on, I'm just at that 'lost weight but not toned' stage so I'm looking and feeling pretty scrawny. So that = food, when really that should equal getting off my bottom and doing some crunches or whatever!
Dinah - If you don't feel right spending all that money then just don't, even more so if it's stressing you out! At the end of the day it isn't really the money that's important, you'll still be Mrs.NIM by the end of it if you spend £100 or 100k (I think that's the type where they have elephants and stuff)
Tete - I just have to watch people on those spinning bikes to feel like I've had a work out. Good luck!!
Wendz - Sounds like your OH is enjoying winding you up! I'd just make out I'd love the DVDs if I were you, play him at his own game. OH hates it when I do that
ETA: Forgot to say (the reason I came on to post!) I lost 1lb last week. *clap clap* not quite sure how I did it but it's happened.0 -
That is a good idea Tete. Should just turn up with them and say oh you will have to get a different present now.0

It's a difficult one because I see what you mean about the money, but it's your one chance to do it properly and so you'd wanna make the most of it. Depends how fussed NIM is about it all too.
Didn't really budget. This morning did some maths with NIM and we can afford a wedding.... so long as we have no venue at all!!!
I weighed myself this morning (it was Wednesday wasn't it?) and I have put on 1lb. Can't say I'm that suprised to be honest after the epic meal at Dad's. But still.Am officially trying hard now. Chicken stir fry for dinner!
Weigh ins need to be big and bold, no shirking in the corner. For me this week I am -1lb. Less than I thoguht to be honest given I've hardly eaten all week with this damn cold.Dinah - You only get one chance to do your dream wedding and plenty of chance to get a house. That is the way I would see it anyway.
But a house is a nessesity, a wedding is a frivolity. And its not the wedding but the marriage that needs to be special, and I can't help thinking blowing all our money on one day will make the start of the marriage more stressful as we are still living at home, or struggling to pay off the wedding on the credit card, which is mental!
Went back to see Wynyard, the original amazing venue today. And it is stunning especially the rooms for the evening reception and the wedding breakfast, but I just prefer the feel of Grinkle, its more relaxed, intimate, even if its not as grand and stunning.
Have talked to NIM a lot, I'm at the stage of wanting to throw in the towel on the wedding thing and just have a buffet in a church hall so we can go home the next day to our own house, but he doesn't think I would actually be happy with this.
Sorry for whittering, and thanks a lot for that pm Lara.

Hi all,
We got the lovely apartment we put an offer in for. Am over the moon. It is a proper family home and in such a lovely location for a family :j
Dinah - you need to be honest with yourself here. The wedding you want is going to cost a certain amount of money. You need to decide whether you are willing to pay for it, or whether you can cope with a smaller scale affair.
When I picked Barcelona as a wedding venue it wasn't because of the cost, it was because I am head over heels in love with the city and wanted a wedding there. it did turn out to be cheaper than a wedding at home, but that is not why I picked it. When it comes to weddings I believe you should go with your instincts, as you will look back at the photos and have great memories.
If looking back at photos is going to anger you because of the cost/waste of money then don't book it as you won't enjoy the planning.
As I have said before (and don't want to sound harsh because my personality is quite like yours in some ways) I think you and NIM are too hard on yourselves. Why can't you rent for a while when you get married? There is no shame to it. Yeah it might take a bit longer to get a house but life is not a race, we need to make the most of it while we can.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Yay CMD, really pleased you got the apartment!! When do you move in?
Dinah I think you're going to have to make some sacrifices somewhere, whether it's a smaller FTB house rather than a big £250k one, or you stay at home or rent for a bit rather than buy straight away, or you save some money by having a lower-key venue, or have a posh venue but save elsewhere like the honeymoon, dress, whatever. I just don't think that you can have everything you want in the timescale you want it and you're going to be stressed to death trying to make it work. Unless of course NIM's mum comes up with the goods.
Cinny, well done on the 1lb loss ... and thanks for the vote of confidence for the spinning!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
If you don't want the big wedding Dinah then do what you want to do, is your day! My Dad keeps saying to me the bigger the wedding the more likely you are to divorce, not necessarily true but like you said the marriage part is the most important. Can you put back the wedding or is that not really an option? A house and a wedding in that short time is a big ask.
CMD - well done on the apartment, sounds lovely. When do you get to move in?0 -
Hi! Long time no speak! I hope you haven't all forgotten me!
I’m pleased you got the apartment CMD, it sounds lovely and you must feel much better about the baby having a lovely place to come home to!
I’m very intrigued about your birthday present Wendz, although we may be all disappointed if your OH is just winding you up! I hope not!
I haven’t weighed myself today but yesterday I was back up to 10st6! I blame it on TOTM! I hope I don’t put too much weight on when I’m on holiday; it shouldn’t be too bad as we’ll be doing a 3 mile walk every day (the resort is on a 1 and a half mile stretch of beach so we’ll be walking up and down every day!) and I’ll wear my fitflops when I do the walk to help tone my legs! We’ll also be doing plenty of swimming and it’ll be too hot to eat a lot… I hope! Yesterday I found my snorkel to take with me… and yes it is pink! OH wasn’t impressed, but he can’t complain as I borrowed my Dad’s one for him and its Boy Blue!
Dinah, I think that if you’re stressing about the cost of the wedding then go for a simpler do, why do you have to have a fancy hall that costs a bomb? Everyone I speak to says that it’s the smaller, Church-and-village-hall-type weddings that they remember as they’re much more personal, friendly and fun. I’ve entered a Win a Wedding competition with our local radio station, I hope we get picked as finalists, if we do I’ll be begging you all to vote for us!
Enjoy spinning Tete, I hope you survive to tell the tale!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I could be wrong, but wasn't Grinkle cheaper than Wynyard? So that can only be a good thing that you prefer it! Does it have to be a big/grand venue? I like the look of the ones outside where people sit on hay bales and stuff! But obviously you've got to be into that sort of thing!
Congratulations CMD on getting the apartment! You must be chuffed!
And well done Cinny and Dinah on the weight loss! Cinny, maybe stop dieting though and just eat normally (as in healthily, but not to lose weight) but up the exercise then your body will tone but you won't get uber-skinny. I'm assuming anyway!
