I can't control that. And sheer determination to do it will only see me spending all the savings on lottery tickets!!!

Dinah - Well done on the stone weight loss! I must try harder for the next challenge, when are we starting it and setting up new goals?Cinny, how did the job talks go with your Dad last night?
Well I didn't actually speak to him about leaving last night, I'm good aren't I? Spoke to OH and sister who helped me clear my head abit, so I'm feeling a lot better today. We've come up with a new plan! (Which might end up in Dinah telling me off) Basically, I'm staying with the company. They'll pay for me to do my accoutancy course and pay me for the days I'm there, then once I'm qualified I'm free to go where I like. - Accountancy is what I want to do, so it seems silly to pass up on free qualifications.
Also, I'm going to complete my GCSEs with the OU and to boost my confidence I signed up to Yoga classes starting of next week (eek!)
Flower - So chuffed for your OH! Thumbs up to all the overtime he'll be getting too!0 -
Have they actually said they will pay for the accountancy course Cinny? When does that start? More to the point how would you survive on so little wages you earn pennies as it is! You manage your money very well, but there comes a point where its not possible to live off the money no matter how well you manage it.
I do think completing your GCSEs is a really good idea, and its a lot to work full time and study so I'm not going to have a go. All I am going to say is if your hours do get cut you need to be careful not to spend on the credit card at all as you will have no way of paying it off again, so you are going to have to cut back on any treats, going out etc instead.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It is a good idea to do some qualifications Cinny and you are still young and in a position where it won't affect you much financially. Just do what makes you happy but don't do anything that will not help you.0

Really struggling to find reasonable car insurance this year, best I've got so far is over £700!!!
Have you checked that insurance group for any possible cashback?
Also when things were tight for OH last year he had to take out third party over full comp. It was only £400 for the year instead of the 1k+ he was getting quoted fully comp. Wouldn't that be an option?
The accountancy course would be next year now, although I'm going to contact the local college and see if I could join late. I might be able to play catch up.
I think my wage is pretty good though, for the hours I work taking £150 a week isn't bad. I think it's just because of my savings and budgets I seem so pennilessif I was the scrap them I'd have £120 a week to spend.

Aye but most people at 18 don't work part time, they have a full time job unless they are studying or have kids etc. So your wages seem really low to me as they are less than I earnt even while I was at school doing my GCSEs full time at 16, and that was nearly 10 years ago. Most courses only started last week, if you get on and call them I would think they'd let you on unless they were full. Has the company agreed to pay for this though? If they are in trouble and cutting hours I wouldn't have thought they could afford it.
Third party is definitely not an option. My current car is worth 3k, if I crashed that or was hit by an uninsured driver or someone bashed into my car while it was parked and drove off, I would have to find all money to repair it or buy a new one. It's written into my work contract I have to have full time use of a reliable vehicle, so I could potentially loose my job if I couldn't buy a new car or get the repairs done within about a fortnight. Plus we are looking to buy a new car for about 7k, thats even more money to find in case of an accident. 3rd party fire and theft is really only of any good to someone with an old banger, otherwise you're on a bit of a wing and a prayer that nothing happens!

Afternoon everyone!
Just got back from the gym with OH and so tired now.
Thank you for all the comments on OHs job, hes happy to be doing extra hours for a few weeks until he sorts new staff out. His attitude is he doesnt want to be working with people who are happy to put his management position at risk because of illegal activities so hes happy they are gone.
Probably wont see an awful lot of him for the next few weeks though.
On another plus side i have an interview on Friday, just another retail job but its contracted to more hours than i am now. So fingers crossed.
Well done on the weight loss Dinah - thats great!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Good news Flower! You must be relieved! Good luck for the interview
Well done Dinah on the weight loss! Did anyone else manage the stone? I know Cinny has already asked, but when does the new challenge start?
Cinny, your education plans sound good. But I guess if it depends whether your pay is gonna be cut by half like you were saying. Cuz that is a big cut! Are you gonna keep doing (or restart!) your diary to keep track of everything?
I had a pointless 40 minute lecture which is an annoying waste of petrol. Nice to come back to my latest copy of Olive magazine through the door though!

I didnt actually officially join the challenge, but i did have a mini goal with myself to lose some weight. I lost 16lbs, now just want to maintain my weight and tone up rather than lose anymore.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
New Diet Challenge
New challenge starts tomorrow, so anyone intending to join enjoy a last day of freedom (or if you're a goody two shoes get an early start!). So either tonight or tomorrow night you know the drill, weigh yourself and post on here if you intend to do the challenge, put it in big and bold at the top like the title above so we know who is doing it, and put up your weight, height, waist, chest, hips, thigh, arm and any other measurements you want to track, and your bmi.
The goal we're going for is a stone by New Years, which is a bit easier than last time as we're doing it over 12 weeks rather than 10 weeks. If you are going for a different goal state this, as not everyone will have a stone to loose. Anyone who does have a stone or more, go for the full stone as it's not exactly an arduous level of weight loss we're aiming for given the time frame, and I think if you only aim for 3 lbs or something over a month you won't notice the difference, and are less likely to make proper changes to your diet and it will all be 'oooh just one donut won't hurt'!
I think Tete might have managed the full stone too this time around, but shes away atm so won't know till she gets back.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
