Sorry to hear your having such a hard time of it Cinny.

Im an absolute bag of nerves this today waiting to hear if OH still has his job. He's been off work all weekend and apparently it all kicked off, this morning drug searches were carried out this morning and 7 staff were found with drugs.
OH has had a telling off even though he hasnt been there because he 'should know what his staff are upto'.

He has only been the joint kitchen manager there for 5 weeks - so he doesnt know them fantastically yet and he wasnt there this weekend. How on earth is it his fault they have been bringing drugs into work?!

Aw, Thanks Dinah! I suppose anything you can do without a degree really.

Seen a few already that would be good, as well as 2 that I could do while staying with the family company.

Seriously Poolie, you know way too much! Thanks though, I'll bare that in mind.

ETA: That's terrible Flower! I hope his job is okay, i'll keep my fingers crossed!

Eeek, I didn't think it was legal to do searches on a person without a warrant! But as you say its not his fault Flower.

I'll see what I can find you in the next few days Cinny x

Im not sure about the legal side of things. But i think they suspect one member of staff is a dealer. OH has got an emergency meeting with all the managers - there was word of some of them being sacked for negligence (sp?) but OH says he is 99% sure that the drugs havent been taken at work because he would recognise a member of staff on drugs.
We both know he is not to blame and if they do try and shift it onto him we will be straight down the CAB tomorrow.

If they have any sense they wont take that route.

Hey Cinny, sorry about the job woes but Dinah is very wise and totally right!

You should really look into getting a Christmas job at Boots, the discount is great and for 3 days in December they do 'Double Discount' days (and you still get points!), my Mum was having kittens last year she was so excited about it, she's even more excited this year because she's going to be prepared with the 3 for 2s! Needless to say Christmas comes from Boots in our house! And by all accounts if you have half a brain you can do quite well there, it's all experience and if they send you on training courses and whatnot (if you decide to stay on) it'll be good for your CV!

I'll make Boots my first port of call in the morning, double discounts sound good! Need to work on my CV though as I have near nothing to put on it! Just text OH to see if Ladbrokes have any job going, I think he thinks I'm kidding though.

A big part of me isn't 100% certain on leaving the company though, I know if me and my brother knuckled down we could make something out of it. Going to sit down tonight with my trusty notepad and try to brainstorm (or whatever PC word it's called now!)

We get searched in work randomly. Just to see we're not carrying money/phones etc onto the shop floor.

Hope you manage to find a suitable job Cinny :) It is pretty good timing for the Christmas jobs though!

I'd be worried too Flower but I'm sure it'll be fine, hope you find out soon and it's good news!

But Cinny its not your company to make something of. If you think you could make something set up your own, but your job is clearly considered surplus to requirements, so any money you make the company is going in their pockets not yours! I know its the family firm but your dad and your uncle are thinking with their business heads not family heads, and you need to too.

I'm going to be harsh for one paragraph - your current job is holding you back. You are a bright, capable young woman working part time for the family company and unable to enjoy life as she is scrimping for every penny. You need to make your own way in the world and be able to afford a holiday cottage for the weekend or a new dress without having to budget for ever to accomodate it. The family firm is not challenging you, and does not value you and you have no job security, you need to take a risk and do something for yourself rather than sticking where you feel safe.

Jeez Dinah, what's with the tough love?!

Just kidding! You're right, our Cinny is capable of so much and I want to see her successful and happy!

Ooh Cinny, just to add something on a different tack- at the wedding fair on Saturday I saw a lady who made cupcakes and her business was called Cate's Cupcakes! I nearly told her that she couldn't have that name because I had a Kate who wanted a cupcake business! :)
