Me and the other Office girl are contracted to 18 hours per week. So really, the shortest they can have the Office open is 9 - 4:30? I think.
We've tried coming up with ideas, but they just get brushed to one side. I found a company this morning who does pretty big jobs, we could send them a letter asking to be considered for smaller plumbing works and at least we've tried. But my Dad will see the fact they do some jobs over 1m and not bother.
I don't know! Sorry for making this thread all about my families lack of business skillz0 -
Has no one got a Dooyoo crown this week? I went through pretty much all the ladies on this thread rating and nominating like a mad thing at the weekend, I was hoping someone would get one! I did obviously pick the best reviews people had done, but I must have nominated 20 reviews or so in total. Clearly nominations don't count unless they come from a board guide!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Not to pop that bubble Cinny but a lot of offices don't man the phones 2 days a week, or afternoons or whatever, or whoever happens to be in the office just gets it whenever, rather than having specific people to keep the office open.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I don't even try to get a crown, it's always the same select people who get them it's not worth bothering!
I know, it is a matter of 'if you're near the phone, grabbit' but if we're contracted to 18 hours a week I thought thats what they had to give you minimum? I'm not sure, I'll just let them get on with it. I suppose if cutting my hours means my brother is in less danger of loosing some of his it isn't too bad, I'll just ask him to buy me dinner when I'm skint and hungry0 -

There's nothing to stop you writing a letter on spec? Or would your Dad be annoyed at you going behind his back, even if you get some work out of it?Has no one got a Dooyoo crown this week?
No, and someone gave me a 'Useful' rating!! Only my ninth one ever, grr!Clearly nominations don't count unless they come from a board guide!

They can alter a contract. Just terminate your current one, issue a new one and give you 30 days or whatever it is to accept the new Ts & Cs, if you don't accept them, no job.
Also, I know this REALLY isn't a concern right now Cinny, but if you are planning to have a family in the future you should consider getting into a bigger company. Companies with under 10 employees are not obligated to pay you maternity pay, or hold your job for you when you go on maternity leave. Most companies require between 1 and 3 years service to get full maternity benefits.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Cinny I had a huge multi quote ready to go for you but I thought it might come across as condecending etc so I'll keep it short and sweet and try not to come across as anything other than trying to be helpful.
As you guys all know my dad runs a VERY successful company and up till last week he had 4 staff employed full time. However he's had togive the admin girl her notice this week. A LOT of companies are in a lot of trouble and your family one may well be no different.
So I very much doubt they are not thinking of you. You need to look at the company as a whole. Do you know how much they are tanking home, what debts the company has etc?
I really hope this hasnt come across as harsh or anything, I know I went through a load of angry emotions when dad wouldnt take me on but looking at it now I can see why. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
I haven't written a review for a couple of weeks now, really should get on it again.
Cinny - hope everything works out for you.0 -
