Do you know how much they are tanking home, what debts the company has etc?
I know all the ins and outs of it. At the end of the month I have to scurry around with my notepad taking note of all the money going in and out, I see all the wage slips and every penny of debt. Thanks for you input though NIM, of course you didn't come across as harsh! ETA: Woops, I meant condecending!
Right, me and my brother were sat in my office trying to find places to contact for possible work. My Dad comes in, and instead of giving us a bit of encouragement (and maybe a biscuit?) starts ripping my brother apart. I can't be bothered with this today!0 -
Cinny if its that bad walk out, is there the possibility that they want to let the company die? Not a nice thought I know but maybe thats where all of this is coming from. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

Cinny the age old adage 'never mix business and family' is very apt. You feel responsible for the company and how you work in a way you wouldn't if you worked anywhere else. I'm not going to harp on but I feel you'd be better fiancially and emotionally elsewhere. I know you don't have much confidence in yourself, but from personal experience I can tell you by taking the leap and doing a 'scary' job I became a much more confident, mature, and happier person.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Never thought of it like that, but maybe they do? My Uncle and Dad are slowly moving over to motorcycle training, loosing interest in the Plumbing company fast. They keep on saying how 'It's all over to you now' I think after 30years they might just want out.
Thanks for that Dinah - I think I'd enjoy another job somewhere else just as much, I have tomorrow morning off so I think I'll nip into town and see if Boots need any Chrimble Staff along with some other shops. It's worth a go, right?0 -
Always worth a go hon, and you might find seeing some new faces for a few months does you a world of good and opens your eyes to other possibilities. you could afford that £130k dream house if both you and your OH were working full time jobs.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ooo, the dream house would spur me on.
My sister has just got a full time job in Sheffield, so if I could find something similar I could car pool with her and get a train on other days. At least it widens my search, right?0 -
Sounds like a definite plan Cinny. I did a search on job centre plus website for jobs in sheffield and literally hundreds of admin or shop jobs showed up, I don't know what exactly you are looking for but if you tell me I can help you search if you wanted.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I have to agree with Dinah 1000% on this idea of getting out over the Christmas period to work with another company. Would certainly help boost your CV further.0

Just remember, to watch were you pay tax and your tax free allowance. If you do get another job for the Christmas period to look at switching your tax free allowance to your Christmas job especially if the family business is going to cut your hours.
This way you will maximise your tax free allowance. If you are going down to few hours then it may put you under the tax threshold while having to pay 20% on everything you earn at the 2nd job.
Just a thought. (Did any of that make sense - Think my head is full of swimming pool water)0
