It's rumoured the next version of the Touch will have up to 64 GB of memory.
If it has that and a card slot, I'm sold.

Yes. Maybe I've harboured that grudge for a month or two longer than I should.
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

    nobby24,

Your proclamation was "you" don't need anything else, not "I" don't need anything else.

    My Iphone 3Gs, amazing!

It's my phone, messenger, email, music centre, video player, games console, satnav.... you don't need anything else!

Well, to you I'm a "you", and I do.

And Marty J needs a Nikon DSLR.

    So your assertion fails.

Even Fifer may need more than 32 GB.

You're perfectly entitled to buy a 'phone that accommodates adequately your own needs, and to say so, but you have no right to pronounce upon what other people may want or need.

An expansion slot, by the way, means that you can insert and remove (for reasons of security) data that may be confidential. A removable card can be read in a computer without the need for a (slow) USB2 lead. And, by keeping different data (or, for example, music) on different cards, you are not constrained by the internal memory limitations of the 'phone.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

For those who don't want to buy beyond compare (which i agree is ace for file and folder comparison) - there is a nice free alternative called http://winmerge.org/

Thanks. I will check this out, though BC will take some beating!

LOL, well thank you Lord Almighty, the thread is about what was the best techie thing people have bought and I replied with my choice. You arrogantly come on to diss someone’s choice without contributing anything yourself, which makes it doubly arrogant. I suppose you just have the non-Iphone owners complex. Having said that two people thanked you for your ‘useful’ post, perhaps people should read the title of the thread before contributing.

Sorry but as the OP and one of the ones who clicked thanks, I found the post helpful. Also I am a non iPhone owner, does that mean I too have a complex? Or am I not allowed to buy what I think is best?

Yes of course you are allowed to buy what you think is best and I would respect your choice whatever it was not start slagging it off, because it would be your choice.

Best commercial kit - Slingbox Pro - I can watch the TV that's in my bedroom from anywhere in the world (I travel extensively for work).

Best free techie stuff - OpenVPN & Squid - allows me to look like I have a UK IP address (the one from my ISP) when really I'm elsewhere. This gets round the BBC iPlayer limit on who can download/watch stuff
