my nintendo DS, very useful for the train home in the evening when I've finished reading the paper!
Plus I find it amazing how small they can make these things now, I remember using windows 3.11 with a screen with 640x320 resolution, the games on the DS are far more complex than that computer could handle.0 -

haha!
It's probably my iPod Touch.
Whenever I see the crew of the Enterprise using their touch screen datapads, I think: "I have one of those, only mine's better".
Unless theres an App for flying a spaceship whilst walking down the hall no it's not....:rotfl:
Actually I did read somewhere the march or progress is a headache for sci-fi makers.
The orignal trek series the onboard computer was far in advance to the then current pc's but now they are woefully behind, similarly the TNG PADD's (Personal Access Display Device, and sadly I didn't have to look that up!) looked cool but are now nothing more than a decent phone or tablet PC can do with wifi.
And the Motorola original star tac had it's roots in Star Trek, it may seem wierd now but the idea of something you could cointact anyone on the planet in a small gadget was far fetched in the 60's but everyone has a phone now.
In terms of my favouite gadget, I'd probably go with the DS. Small, light and can keep me occupied for the longest plane trip0 -
Present day: Sky Plus, and this computer (just a regular PC, nothing special).
Life: ZX81 (although my dad bought it for me. I didn't go out until it broke about two years later).0 -

toss up between my iphone (with mobile.me subscription) - it allows me to sync my calendar, contacts etc with my iphone. MacBook pro, work pc, work iMac and my Mac pro *deep breath*
Basically all the machines i use in a day - i can sync with and know !!!!!! i am supposed to be doing that day.
The iphone is fantastic - even if my in car adapter does not charge it :-( which is infuriating! I would never go back to another phone however - the functionality the iphone provides means i have one piece of kit in my pocket and thats it.
OR to be honest whilst its not tech per se - my orange tiny terror amp.

I use Orange cabs for my guitars, they're about the best you can get and always look pretty good with a dual rec sat on top of them.0
