Hello other August brides *waves*
I am 12th August, have been engaged since xmas 08, didn't realise there was an August brides thread!
We have booked our venue - ceremony and reception in same place.
Photographer - a friend
Flowers - doing them myself
Cup cake tower - probably also doing this myself
Hotel is doing my make up- £25 bargain I think!
Usual hairdresser is doing my hair.
No dresses yet, or colours picked - going in Jan.
Very excited!
I am also on a diet, but I am doing this for me, not because I'm getting married. that was just the incentive!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
1% over payments on cc 3.5/100 (March 2014)0 -

wow you are all super organised
we only got engaged last week but have decided on an August 2010 wedding.
So far we have contacted the church and they have pencilled us in for Saturday 21st August 2010 and we are meeting up with the lady who books them on Jan 9th.
Ummm that is kind of as much as we have booked. I have researched a lot and we know that we are going to have the reception in my parents orchard in huge teepees so really need to get cracking to sort out everything else0 -
I've got a lot of it sorted already! which is weird for me, I usually leave everything till the last minute, but I've had a lot of help from my mam who has taken on the role of wedding planner haha!
We've booked the venue (Leeds town hall)
registered our intent to marry, which was quite a stressful interview!
booked the reception (the faverhsam, which is a lovely club and perfect for our 1950s theme)
the bridesmaids dresses are bought (vivien of holloway)
met with the cupcake lady and decided on colours & paid deposit
invitations are designed and I've got the paper ready to print them on
sorted wedding night accommodation for all of my family at Malmaison who have given us an amazing rate, and are going to upgrade us two to a suite for free! & provisionally booked a room in their restaurant so we can treat our families to a posh meal as the thank you gift
also sorted wedding transport, a london routemaster bus!!!
my friends doing the photography & another two friends have agreed to DJ at the reception.
so all in all a lot of it is sorted quickly!! just need to find the perfect dress now, which i'm hoping i've found through another friend of mine's sister, who is a seamstress and is going to create one bespoke for metrying to become a moneysaving student0 -

Boxing day update......
Wow back from the sales have just bought my three bridemaid dresses in debenhams on the web site said it was sold out but then went in store and collected one, the one i collected had a small mark so was give another 20% off that meant the dress was only 32.00 whoopie. the others where reduced by 50% down to £40 the others will be delivered in the next 5 days and only cost 3.99 delivery. I then bought the 3 bridemaid shoes and they where also reduced in BHS down from £25 to £12.50.
so the orginal price would have set me back £315.00 instead I paid £153.49 including postage....saving a grand total of £161.51
Also in TX maxx managed to buy the Menu cards £4.99 and the Thank you cards £4.99 that match the invites i had already bought.
Think i need to stop spending now........
Am thinking to take HTB out tomorrow for the wedding rings see what deals we might get........0 -

Hi
I got married in Plymouth in July 2009. I arranged my whole wedding within 4 months. I went to a few wedding fairs but I found that some were quite expensive, do shop around and try to do a lot yourself, I enjoyed doing that, I made all of my wedding cards and thank you cards.0 -
