  • Morning all, sounds like we are cracking ahead!

I got my save the date calender magnets, evening invites, a free notepad, letter heads, a stamp and a pen from vistaprint this morning, so now I need to get some envelopes and send them out...

still waiting on some quotations, and beginning to look at materials for my BM's and getting very impatient about people not replying when they say they will!

    Hi All,

I have finally done something other than book the venue and the church so I feel a bit better as I though I'd better get my !!!! into gear after seeing what you have all done. :)

I have ordered my Save the Date cards from Vista Print and am just waiting for them to arrive - I thought I could include them with my Christmas cards in true MSE style! :money:

I have also received an email from Vista Print saying I can have free invites, I know that someone else on the Forum mentioned this a few days ago so I am going to see how they got on and if there isn't a catch I am going to order my invites.

So what else is there to do? A friend of ours is going to DJ so that is another thing off the list. My Mum has a friend who is a florist so I am going to speak to her about flowers. My MIL2B does the flowers in church anyway so that is sorted. As for my dress I haven't even started yet
as I have a truckloack of weight to lose first! I know that I don't want a strapless dress as I have visions of taking someone out on the dancefloor with my bingo wings :rotfl:

The one thing I am really struggling with is a photographer. I know everyone has to make a living but how much do they charge?!

I feel a bit better after reading that list - hope you are all getting on ok. x
  • Hello everyone, I too am hoping to be an August bride with one twist... We haven't planned anything yet! I'm told it's possible to do it in a matter of months, so 9 should be fine... Watch this space!
  • Hey everyone,

Glad to see there are more and more August 2010 Brides :-), can you believe it's only 9 months until we all become a MRS! *scary*.

I hope everyone's plans are coming along well and you're all getting what you want, for the price you want.

superfran_uk - you can definitely plan a wedding within 9 months. Ours was probably organised within about 3 or 4. The only obvious things you have to be careful of is ordering a dress etc because generally they take about 5 months and booking a venue, as these get booked up very quickly (especially for summer months).

Anyway good luck to all you Brides/Grooms and as always I enjoy reading your posts.

    V xx

  • I have no doubt that it can be done... Just have to be organised! We're trying to book the venue for a Friday - looks like we might have to settle for July afterall (although funnily enough the 13th is free everywhere but OH is against that!).

I won't be ordering anything custom made from a uk bridal shop - i'm not a white dress girl, never had dreams of looking like a meringue and I was always the groom when i played weddings with my friends as a child! - although I am being hijacked from all sides so whether I end up with what I actually want will remain to be seen...

I did mine in a matter of weeks. Think it was about 9 in all. Good luck to all with the wedding planning. Such an exciting time for you all. Many congratulations. xx
  • I am a 21st August 2010 bride.

I have bought my dress & accessories (shoes, veil, tiara etc) & 2 bridesmaids dresses.

    We have booked:
    Ceremony & Reception venues
    Humanist
    Piper
    DJ
    Photgrapher
    Videographer

    Still to organise -
    Kilts
    rings
    cake
    limo for bridal party
    favors
    other bits and pieces

oh and of course - honeymoon!

I am trying not to have EVERYTHING done too early.

I have found everything quite easy so far, and most of this was done within weeks of getting engaged. Its the little fiddly bits that stress me out!

  • Hi. My name is Emma and my boyfriend is Maartijn. We have been talking over the last few weeks about getting married. Maartijn wants to do it sooner rather than later and thinks that August 2010 would be a good time :)
We haven't booked anything yet, AT ALL and aren't even officially engaged!
It's all quite daunting at the moment, but very exciting!
Having started to look into dates and after reading a bit in MrsThrift's forum post we reckon that Friday the 13th of August would be a great date to get married on. Neither of have any superstitions about the date, but because others might we thought that it might be a bit cheaper!
Anyhow, Thought I'd just introduce us and share a bit of excitement!

  • After being engaged for a while we've decided to finally get down to organising the ceremony. Not decided on a date yet, but I know it'll be in early August, we're pretty flexible so am just gonna ring up the venue (Leeds Town Hall) and ask what dates they have available then fit in everything around there.

I've got a photographer, DJ's, and artist friends lined up to help with stationary so will be saving a few quid as I don't have to hire professional people! My sister has decided on her bridesmaids dress, and I have decided on my dress (a very moneysaving 85 quid its going to cost me! but will be wanting some alterations done, however my nana is a seamstress so once again I can get help for practically free!)

We're not bothering with a honeymoon abroad just yet, because we're going to save up afterwards. Thinking of a few nights in a nice hotel in this country somewhere for now.

The only thing I'm worried about is finding a cool reception venue, I've got my eye on two clubs in Leeds which are really different so will be contacting them soon.
