I decided today to bite the bullet and phone deloittes just to see how our application was coming along. Spoke to a really nice chap who told me that paragon (the insurer) had got back to them but they were still waiting for advantage (the lender) to get back to them regarding the interest that was applied to the loan, (paragon apparently don't know what interest was applied), so what do you all think? Is this good news and will I still be waiting forever to hear the outcome?

Oh Di, that would be wonderful news if that's the case, the chap said he had our application in front of him at that moment and was just about to email advantage. The part I don't understand is if they have a copy of our agreement (which they have) and the interest is already printed on there why do they have to get that confirmed? Stupid question I know bit is it because the interest rates have fluctuated so much over the past 5 years? I know when we first took the loan the rates were climbing high but then obviously as the bank of England dropped them so too did our payments?

It will be fine, they need to double check as a standard procedure, I recall something similar with one of mine that they dealt with.
You will also receive that extra bit of interest as well you see,;)

Hiya - just a quick update on my case- I called my caseworker at Deloitte's to ask for another update, to be told they were still waiting for the final piece of information. I asked if there was anything I could do to help, and he explained that they were trying to find out if we had a single policy or two seperate policies for my husband and I - if I were to call the insurance company he would "listen in" on my call and that would be validation enough for them. So he rang the insurance company and muted himself out while I spoke to them to get the confirmation that it was a single policy. With that final piece of info - he explained that was his involvement in my case finished and it would be passed to next department, which would check the claim. So feeling quite hopeful for a positive result soon.:)

Hiya called FCSC today to be told that my claim had been finalised and a CHEQUE was due to be sent on the 7th of November. I tentively asked if he could tell me how much it was for he told me it was over eleven thousand!!!!!!!!! I am needless to say delighted and will be waiting by the letterbox from next Tuesday - don't want to start the real celebrations until I have the cheque in my hand.xx

Well done Lynne that's excellent news!
  • Just a quick question to u all. Has anybodys monthly payment to these loan people actually gone down in the last four years since the interest rates went down?. I know ours went up the year after we took out the loan in 2006 and has not changed since

Hi Liverpool, yes initially ours went up and up as the interest rate changed, then as the bank of England dropped the rate so too did our payments. I couldn't tell you what our rate is at the moment but we pay less now than when the rates were going up all the time. Has yours stayed the same?
  • No always stayed the same
