Please don't make the same mistake as us!
We got back nearly £17000 from mis sold PPI from Picture. So far so good.
However, we had one more NCB to claim April 2011, but according to letter that accompanied our cheque, if we cancelled, FSCS would claim it earlier for us. We double checked this via an email to one of the claim advisors at FSCS who confirmed this.
Then, when we cancelled the insurance, FSCS are suddenlt declaring we have nothing more to claim?! We have sent a letter of complaint with all the evidence, but my concern is, if they still refuse, where do we go from here?

Hi there and well done on your success.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon, and with a bit of luck someone will know your best direction to take if this is not resolved, and post up soon, good luck with this.;)

Hi, i'm a bit confused with this one. Once you cancel the policy you have no further claim on it, as it no longer effective. Someone has most certainly mis-advised you from the FSCS on this one. I really don't know where you would stand with this, as when you cancel the only thing you would be entitled to, as far as I am aware is the rebate on cancellation, which doesn't usually amount to much. I really don't know how they can tell you , you would be entitled to the ncb on a policy that is no longer valid. It would be the same as with any other type of policy , be it car, house etc, once it is cancelled you have no further claim. Also how can they claim the NCB earlier than when it is due, it just doesn't make sense!!!
    Hope this makes sense.

That is exactly what my letter said too, i assumed that it was because they had knocked off what is due to me in the future from the settlement amount, & read it as they would increase the settlement by this amount if i could prove i cancelled. Am assuming this is the info you got too?
Thank you for sharing your story & warning me off cancelling. I really feel for you & do hope you get it sorted out soon x

Glad we're not the only ones who read their letter like this- seems we had the same info, and i was beginning to think we had totally mis-read it and were being really stupid.
I'll let you all know what happens.
Thank you all for your support

    Hi,
My claim was against loanmakers and was settled in march. The ncb was deducted from my settlement figure from fscs but they also said that if we choose to cancel the policy and provided evidence that we had done this they would then increase the settlement figure.
We choose to cancel the policy as our lender was unable to tell us if we would receive the ncb or not as we had been late with a payment.
I provided fscs with the evidence that the policy had been cancelled and we rec'd our second chq within a couple of weeks.

That's what we were told to do,but with a different outcome. The FSCS did initially send a cheque for over £5000, and then promptly cancelled it the next day, stating there had been an error!?!!
We've since been told we're due nothing even though we cancelled within the set period specified.
Seems they're making it up as they go along.

Really sorry it hasn't worked out.
Do you still have the original letter? I would take further as you followed their instructions. What were their reasons for the error?

    Hi Pinknico

The NCB is sent out automatically so you don't need to do anything.

I hope all is well with you x

Yes, we have written a letter of complaint which they should have received at the beginning of the week. We kept every piece of correspondence, including emails, so we have a good case, which makes it all the more confusing why they're refusing to pay out the last of the NCBs.
Their reason for cancelling cheque was, we had had what was due to us already because they didn't realise we got a NCB this year. We hadn't expected £5000, so can understand this error, but we should still something!!
