IF there ever came a time in someones life again whereby they needed to reduce their outgoings then unsecured debts only mean a dmp whereas secured loans mean repossession. If you were to be advised by a debt advisor after having troubles then they would always say to pay the secured (mortgage and secured loans) first and ask for help on the others. I certainly would not risk my home again ever if it mean't to me a choice of paying off credit cards/loans or secured loans. I know by missing on the credit cards etc it would not mean me being homeless. Just my view and i have seen so many on here saying they are already struggling with the repayments. If its not repaid against the loan then really its only like having "more" in a secured loan to consolidate other debts. Not always a wise move as I found out.
Please don't take offence here folks as my views are only my views.
Its totally up to any individual.
Marshallka did post a long reply and lost the bloody signal when I replied. Will have to get back to you later as I am expecting visitors very soon.
DOn't think for one minute you have offended anyone. You help and advice and opinion is always appreciated

Pinknico, I was not judging or trying to make anyone feel judged. Its certainly up to any individual how they use the money from Picture and I agree to that and nothing is right or wrong but when you are in debt its very difficult to get a charging order over a property for unsecured debt, they usually set up repayment orders and it can take a few times in the courts whereas with a secured debt you are contracted that if you cannot repay they can take your home. Secured debt is different. I know that dialysis will know what its like to live with the threat of losing your home. You can live without credit pinknico but not without a roof over your head. I am not judging anyone, I am purely just putting over my point of view which is what the site is aboutMarshallka Youre not offending anyone, but as busbyh says every has to do what is best for them and no one knows what that is except that person and they are entitled to do it and not feel judged or wrong.
unfortunatly I think it is still the case if you get in trouble with loans and creditcards the companies can get the debt secured against your house.
And if you work out how much interest you would pay on having a credit card there would not be much difference in the long run as the interest rates on credit cards can be 3 x as much as picture loan.
I hope everyone does what is best for them with the money, enjoy the fact you are in the position that you got the money back and most importantly whether it be a chocolate bar or a new car TREAT YOUR SELVES. XX
.
Sorry if it sounded like I was judging and saying it was "right". You have to do what is right for you I suppose.

I do know what it is like and we could have taken the easy option stayed in the council house and gone bankrupt, that would have been an end to all of it, but no house. We would have had all this money which the BR wuld have taken anyway. That was not an option at all for us it just did not feel right. We chose the hard route and still have all our debt but our home. Beleive me when I say I have chosen the best route for me. I perfectly understand where you are coming from Marshallka and as I said you have not offended me at all hun:AI think that even if I had no debt from secured or unsecured I would find it very difficult to pay it all to Picture after hat they have put us through. I am not able to work due to my health and we relied upon that PPI to support my illness and finances. I know that if I had had the truth from them with regards to the PPI I would not have taken the loan. therefore I would not be in this position now. You have helped me immensly Marshallka and I am trully grateful for all your opinions and advice:A:A0
