Maybe you could say the same for Argos since they know damn well the console price crash was imminent and still charged him full price. I don't care how its put it is still a rip off.
its not tho its like tescos i can buy fish fingers for £1.99 next week they could be on offer for £1 we don kick up a fuss then
price changes go up and down all the time argos sold the ps3 at the price it was then and if you check there terms and conditions it covers them selfs for that very reason
it states that prices may change at anytime g due to offers and change in rrpReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -

The price of ANY tecchnology item is likely to drop over time, and typically the drops are significant amounts.
Nobody can run a shop on the basis of forewarning a future price drop.
There is a possible way around it for the OP that doesn't involve damaging anything, it just requires a bit of thinking and aan extra purchase. And it's a little bit dodgy. Only a little bit though.0 -
It wasn't just Argos who expected the price to go down. Anyone who'd read about the impending Gamescom presentation knew Sony would be likely to lower the price. OP could have done some research.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

Oh c'mon.....please don't be so stupid.
This is not a rip off.
If you paid £100 for it and it went up to £150 the next day, would you go back and give a further £50 to the shop.
You have basically been unlucky NOT CONNED and now you just want to whinge and moan about it.
Get over it !!!!!!.0 -

Would it be considered obtaining money by deception?
No I don't think it is - especially if the OP then returned with said money and purchased the newer, slimmer, cheaper, more powerful version from Argos.
I suppose it depends on your perspective. If it was me - well this particular scenario would'n't happen to me because I've been a gamer for years and am clued up on new hardware and software)
But let's say it was another product I'd bought at that price which then went down. I'd be philosophical about it. I've got vague memories of buying a portable Sony DVD player for £150 quid from John Lewis then a few months later seeing Tesco knocking them out for less than £100.
Am I bothered about that? Nope. Plus mine is blue (my favourite colour)and the Tesco ones were all white. But that amount of money is not a big deal to me. Yes I'd be miffed because I could've got a couple of games for that money but I wouldn't start a thread on MSE whinging about it. Five minutes later I'd forgotten about it - til now.
We don't know about the OP's situation - if I'd saved to buy a console for my kids and it had been hard then I may well be rather more upset about it.
Plus I believe Sony take back faulty consoles and recondition them so Argos would probably get full credit from Sony for the console and then they will find out it is the plug and repair it and sell it again.
I don't consider removing a wire from a plug to be damage btw. Not like dropping it or something.
But the OP hasn't been back to us with any more information which is disappointing.0 -
In fact looking at his profile he hasn't been back since he posted the message.
Huh! Nice to know we are appreciated.0 -
At least no one who has read this thread will buy a PS3 from Argos in the next 2 weeks so I suppose it has been some use.0

Just that he/she hasn't signed in since then.
Of course it would be good if they had the courtesy to thank people.

Thanks to everyone for replying to this, I have not had chance to log back in til this morning. I guess it is tough luck and i should have done my homework. I not a techie so dont check the net for when new verisons of consoles are due out. We have been saving for ages to buy this ps3 and i just feel cheated. The buying team at argos must have known before tis week that the new version is due out 1st Sept. The kids love it so next i know better to check online first for new versions of technology. Thanks again to all who have taken their time to comment. I wasn't sure if anyone would respond. What a good site for info. ssingh19790
