Going of the smoking debate, 100 Watt lightbulbs (proper ones ) are being banned from sale on the 1 Sept. That is going to affect a lot of peoples eyesight , plus I will not find my fags in the dark.

I would say that there are more drink related incidents in A&E than smoking ones.
Discuss.;)
ok--I will:cool:
I used to be a reg. nurse, and have worked in an A&E and a hospice.
Whilst I agree there were fewer smoking related incidents in A&E there are a substantail number. I remember several incidents of fire-in-the-bed, including one where sadly one elderly lady died and an rta where a young woman had hit her partner because he had started to smoke after she had asked him not to--he was driving at the time and the car ended up in the central reservation of the m2:rolleyes:
In the hospice, of course, over about 60% of the cancers are lifestyle related, with the vast majoirty being related to smoking. Sadly this included people who had never smoked in thier lives, but thier partner had done so, and had killed them.
For those that don't die from cancer there are the heart/blood pressure problems to deal with that smoking ALWAYS brings, even tho most smokers pretend that it doesn't. You MUST be familiar with the argument "my granny smoked till she was 150 and never had a cough in her life".
Smokers kill people, peolpe who drink and drive kill people. We have laws to stop /punish those who drink and drive. We should be able to do the same with smokers.LBM-2003ish

I am exactly the same I dont allow it in my car my house or anywhere near me, if i was giving a smoker a lift and they wanted to light up (yes they have asked) they get told in no polite terms to oik their A55es out and get walking, same goes for my house, they light up at the bottom of the garden away from me, last night whilst football was on there were 2 of my hubbies mates at the bottom of the garden smoking every 15 minutes how on earth does someone need to smoke so much as that, had to have double french doors open all evening as they stank terrible !!2010 - Goals

I personally would not find myself in that situation - i have breakdown cover and would not find myself in the situation of accepting a lift from a smoker. I am lucky that all my friends are non smokers the only stinking smokers that i work with are not close friends they are work colleagues and to be honest are not the type that would stop and pick up anyone let alone me.2010 - Goals
