In the hospice, of course, over about 60% of the cancers are lifestyle related, with the vast majoirty being related to smoking. Sadly this included people who had never smoked in thier lives, but thier partner had done so, and had killed them.
For those that don't die from cancer there are the heart/blood pressure problems to deal with that smoking ALWAYS brings, even tho most smokers pretend that it doesn't. You MUST be familiar with the argument "my granny smoked till she was 150 and never had a cough in her life".
Can you please explain what the problem with regard to blood pressure is please?0 -

I am lucky that all my friends are non smokers the only stinking smokers that i work with are not close friends they are work colleagues and to be honest are not the type that would stop and pick up anyone let alone me.

As previously mentioned in my earlier post yes the smokers I work with are stinking they admit it and know, they get told every day not just by me by other non smokers I am referring to my work colleagues not everyone who smokes, I have had family members of mine that smoke moderately and they do not stink. I have had several operations and none have ever smelt remotely of smoke, nor any doctors I have seen or nurses.2010 - Goals

I'm shocked at some of the replies on this thread, some of them seem to be quite vindictive to me. To think a person would snitch on another and maybe get him the sack for having a cigarette in his van?
How callous is that?
Some non-smokers smell bad too.
I hate the smell of booze on people, it's disgusting, but I wouldn't presume to tell someone not to drink. And when some folk have had a curry, the next day they mank out the place. .

As Barneysmom says, bullying at work is illegal, and make no mistake, a comment to a workmate that he stinks is bullying so you need to be careful you are not
disciplined for it.
If a colleague suffered from BO you wouldnt dare tell him/her she stinks.
If anyone said it to me there would be a grievance in straight away because i wont be bullied by anyone.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

ok--I will:cool:
I used to be a reg. nurse, and have worked in an A&E and a hospice.
Whilst I agree there were fewer smoking related incidents in A&E there are a substantail number. I remember several incidents of fire-in-the-bed, including one where sadly one elderly lady died and an rta where a young woman had hit her partner because he had started to smoke after she had asked him not to--he was driving at the time and the car ended up in the central reservation of the m2:rolleyes:
another sad case of the intolerant blaming others - for god sake she hit him while he was driving on motorway!!!! perhaps he needed the ciggy to put up with this b****0 -

How callous is that?
Callous means:
2. Emotionally hardened; unfeeling: a callous indifference to the suffering of others.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/callous
I think that would apply to someone who, despite being legally prohibited from doing so, goes ahead and permeates their vehicle with carcinogens showing disregard for the welfare of the next person that has to use that vehicle.0
