i asked her the other day if the government were to but the duty up and a pack became lets say £7 or £8 pounds for 20 cigs would it encourage u to give up. answer - NO

A further thought: there's so much irony about people on a forum dedicated to saving monet promoting the buying of sustances that will just be burned!

That's never been the case anywhere i worked (including a call center-so office) we always used our breaks if we wanted to smoke, which i thought was pretty standard?

This happens in many areas of industry and fyi my first job after college was in a call centre and this exact thing used to happen... time the smokers wasted outside would in some ways equal upto a 30 minutes a day.... that's not fair for non smokers...

You mean more fresh air to pollute

Yes, dont blame us, the government forced us outside.
More damage is done through alcohol abuse and eating to much.

A few more points. I once went out with a guy and he told me that he would never kiss a girl who smoked as it would be like getting off with an ashtray.... eeeeuw! I could never be in a relationship with anyone who smoked either. We have friends who smoke and although they have children in the house they smoke with the door open but blow the smoke to the side so it lingers inside. I mean really what's the point! They are not helping the kids but instead giving them conditions such as asthma etc!

Not sure if it's been mentioned but what's also annoying is people who work with non smokers are entitled to pop out the office and have a smoke while the others work. They don't have to make the time up and in some cases this can be more than 30 minutes a day while they are nattering and smoking away... non smokers should also down tools while fellow colleagues go and enjoy smoke breaks 10 times a day!!!!!

This annoys me too. I don't work in an office, but the smokers seem to be always out congregated together. It's a licence to slack off. Non-smokers are in a minority at my workplace and I feel totally out of the loop.

So glad they did... next the ban will reach even other places that in the end you will have a confined area with sliding doors where you can all inhale and exhale toxin without non-smokers contracting second degree lung cancers!

If only you could whip out a chocolate bar and magazine and have a read while the smokers are enjoying the outside when you are supposed to be working ;)

The whole risk of cancer thing doesn't bother me as much as it should. Maybe if the lung cancer my grandad died from had been smoking related i would think twice. but he died anyway. and it wasn't the smoking that killed him :(

i know that sounds stupid. it probably is. but i only smoke when drunk anyway (or stressed)
