My cat is dead

  • Sorry to hear about Ziggy. :( I love Cats and find them fascinating creatures. They are so graceful and beautiful. I do not understand people who do not get upset about their pets dying. I think it is natural to feel absolutely gutted over a creature you have brought up and looked after and adopted into your home from choice. Cats have been proven to help people with their blood pressure as stroking and playing with them is such a relaxing activity.

When my cat Spider died i was inconsolable. She was very, very ill and died slowly right next to me. It was strange as everyone thought she was getting better. It was late at night when she turned for the worse and too late to rush her to the vet but at least we were there with her. I was only 11 and it deeply affected me, knowing animals can suffer like humans and seeing how she relied on us to make her feel better, purring even though she was in pain.

As for keeping cats in all the time...that is impossible and cruel. I understand that sometimes they get run over but that is just a fact of life and I'm sure Ziggy would have appreciated the wonderful, free life he had. No one blames the drivers for running a cat over as everyone knows they just dart out sometimes. I try and get my cat spike in at night when i go to bed, but sometimes that is impossible! He just looks at me from the fence as if to say 'Go on, have a go!'. Even shaking his cat treats at him won't make him budge!

  • Sorry for the loss of your beloved Ziggy. Such a cruel way to go

He'll be chasing butterflies with our beloved Big Pud over the rainbow bridge.

We have 3 cats, they do go out but not at night. We live in a cul de sac so it's very quiet but I'm still like a Mother hen when they are out

    Take care

I'm sorry for your loss, didn't want to read and run. Some cats take to being indoor cats with no problems, others prefer to be out and about and it's the risk we take with them but that doesn't make losing them any easier. xx

  • Oh I am so sorry. It's true that our pets do touch our hearts and people often don't understand. It seems a lot of people on this forum do, though. Hugs to you from me too.
