Okay, I'm bored.... very bored and I thought maybe a lighthearted thread to cut through the doom and gloom of the current jobs market and unemployment would be good!

What has been your worst/funniest job? Get it off your chest.

Any amusing or embarrassing stories are welcome! :p

Mine was waitressing at a bistro...most people ended up wearing their food!! One man got pea soup poured down his shoulder (someone knocked me going past)...i still cringe thinking about it :(

I also got given a yellow plastic mac by one of the customers with 'Jesus smiles with you' Written 10 feet high in red across the back! Needless to say, i haven't worn it yet!!!

Christmas tree salesgirl. In my head, I had a picture of me, in mittens and ear warmer things, passing picturesque trees over to smiling dads who would then drag said tree across a Times Square sort of scene. Geddit?

But no I had to cut the b&&%tard trees with a saw, carry them 1/2 a mile to the yard then shove them through a ginormous netting machine, stabbing myself a million times with the needles. I lasted about 4 hours.

at the moment, I would have to say my current one too! It's a made up job, I have barely anything to do. Sounds like some people's idea of heaven, especially given that it's very well paid for what it is, but I can't get away with actively not working, so no reading a book etc, and can't browse the internet because it's 95% locked down!

Other than that the worst job I had was probably my first ever job - saturday checkout girl at W H Smiths as a christmas temp! The uniform was horrible (back in the days of the Aline poo coloured skirts and unflattering stripey shirt), everyone bought wrapping paper which I couldn't roll, and I had to perch on this high seat right at the front of the store, and ugh, I just hated it! I'm glad they didn't offer me a permanent job!

Hahahaha, that made me laugh! I can see why you thought it might be good!

I feel your pain (kind of) I had to chop down the xmas tree in my uni flat as we couldn't fit it through the door. I got stabbed to death and developed some nice red rashes all over my arms! Plus i nearly loped all my fingers off in the process!

  • My worst job was working for a BIG bank, 9 years ago after I had been there 8 months I was asked to train new starters who joined on a salary of £10,500 (I was on £8,500). After a talk with the regional manager he increased my salary to the same after threatening to walk, 6 months later I did. I never looked back and would never go back to that sector again!!!

Taking the shells off eggs at the pickled egg factory. Lots of different eggs mind, down to quails. You did it two at a time one in each hand. To this day I can still take the shell off a boiled egg with one flick of the wrist.
