Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how a charity can start collecting used stamps and where to sell them please?

I've just offered to help out a local charity in their fundraising team and they don't do this at the moment and I've been tasked with investigating.

Any help would be greatfully received.

    Thank you

  • We send ours to the Post Office freepost address that someone has already listed. There is also a website www.used-stamps.co.uk that lists various charities that take them.

Its nearly christmas time again and the time when there are lots of used stamps flying all over the world and getting chucked in the bin. Don't chuck them out this year, please. I am collecting them and sending them to Jay at the HyperMobility Syndrome Association.

I have HyperMobility Syndrome and at my worst I was hobbling one foot in front of the other holding on to furniture, double dosed up on painkillers, grimacing in pain from my back, my knees, my ankles, suffering from nausea from the pain. It took 3 long years (and a change of doctor) to get a referral to the hospital to see a consultant who diagnosed me. Since then, I was able to research the condition and found the support of the HMSA forums and was able to read how to make changes to my life and understand what was wrong with me and my joints. This along with physio and ortho insoles have helped me a lot.

I wont ever get fully better, its a lifelong condition that you learn to live with and try not to let it stop you living your life. You have to plan for the good and bad days. Unfortunately I've had to give up horse riding for now.

    Appropriate links -

HMSA website (warning pop up on first page, they are running a survey on the design of the website) - http://www.hypermobility.org/

The Hypermobility Syndrome Association is a charity registered in England and Wales (1011063) and in Scotland (SC037916)

There is a forum thread about collecting the stamps - http://www.hypermobility.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3751

I dont mind if people want to send the stamps to me and then I will post them off to Jay or if people want to send the stamps to Jay direct.

    Thanks for reading.

    I buy stamps from charities.

I have disabled children and I do it in the hope of helping as many charities as I can.

I don't make anything from doing it.

It costs charities nothing to do as I also refund their postage.

If you'd like more details please pm me and I can let you know where to send them to help your charity.

    Best wishes
