  • I send mine to:

    28 Orwell Drive
    Aylesbury
    Bucks
    HP21 9JN

Its a charity that raises money for children with Crohn's Disease. Known as Smilies club as the children who's symptoms are distressing and debilitating always seem to be able to keep smiling. And a group which is close to my heart.

  • :D My daughter and I collect, process and sell stamps for the charity we support. The charity is The Compassionate Friends, otherwise known as TCF. The charity is an organisation offering help, friendship and support to any family who have suffered the loss of a child. That can be of any age or from any cause. Part of the service we provide is a helpline. That is staffed purely by volunteers, all of whome have actually "been there" and know the feelings you are having. Space prohibits going into detail of all the services TCF provide. Please take a look at the charity main web site at www.tcf.org.uk there you will see exactly what the do. You will also find a link there for "ways to donate" if you follow that you will see "donate stamps" click on that link and you will go to the web site (very amature I am afraid) that my daughter and I have, to explain what we do with the donated stamps. If nothing else it will give you who are interested some idea how it works. So please, please please, send us your stamps, big or small lots welcome. Though some charities are no longer accepting stamps, we still do. They are a vital means of raising funds for us. The mailing address is on the web site mentioned above.

SANDS (see my post above) say...
"All you need to do is save your stamps, carefully trimming them from the envelope/package leaving about a 1/4 inch or 7mm border all around."

Funnily enough, I recently bought some of these from SANDS, along with material from other sources. Very nice, too.

The above is a Very Important Point. Too much bulk of paper adds too much weight, but if you try by hand or scissor to leave too little paper, any damage to the stamp tends to render it worthless. Some charity collectors still religiously sit trimming all those nasty perforations off of every stamp with their clippers!

And trimming by hand has such a high risk of tearing the stamp (I still make this mistake occasionally, after thirty-odd years) that they should only be scissor cut as above.

    Keep up the Good Work.
