A bump on this message again.
Free and easy giving to charity.: simply cut off used stamps - foreign and domestic - and take them to your local charity shop or Post Office (who send them on to various charities). The charities then sell them on to collectors.
The following from the RSPB gives details on how the stamp collecting works. http://www.rspb.org.uk/supporting/campaigns/albatross/support.asp

    Hiya x

I send the stamps we save for our ward to different charities and have found recently that the local post office is refusing to use stamps - as in indivual ones on the front of the packet - they said it is now against their policy and so they stick a prepaid label on the front which is kind of silly for charity taht collects used stamps.

Has anyone else had this problem?

  • I've just posted two packages of used stamps to these nice people. Had so many they just wouldnt go in one large envelope. Glad to have somewhere to send them at last
  • Please don't forget the smaller charities who rarely get picked to benefit from the charity christmas cards etc. For instance, the muscular dystrophy campaign collects used stamps to raise money for research into this particularly cruel disease which affects people of all ages, but the most severe type of MD affects boys from birth. I should know, my 16 year old son has it and all our hope lies in the research. Please go to www.muscular-dystrophy.org for details of where to send the stamps, or other ways that you can support the charity - they also recycle mobile phones and printer cartridges. If you contact them via the web site they will send you some freepost envelopes. They can also provide workplace collection boxes for the printer cartridges and mobile phones, which will be collected free of charge when full. It's all good news!!!!!Thanks and merry christmas to you all.

Does it say in the leaflet anywhere what condition the stamps should be in? ie, how much paper left on them? I seem to remember when collecting previously they wanted quite a big margin, but if you're posting them that costs more.

Leukaemia care also collect used stamps... when i asked them about it (as i also used to collect for guide dogs) they told me...
    "
An outside company look after these on our behalf, so I would therefore be grateful if you would forward any stamps to the following address, making clear that you would like the proceeds to be given to Leukaemia CARE.

The address to send them to is: CSS, 46 Church Hill, Chorley, Lancashire, PR6 7LQ"

So there's another option for people with spare stamps ;o)
