I know it's been mentioned to keep a 'slight' border around the stamps but I would suggest keep about one centimetre around the stamp. It makes sure the stamp remains undamaged, also some of the stamps are just sold on by weight so the extra paper means extra money............. I save my stamps for St Davids Hospice Care Foundation in Newport, Gwent0

Sometimes they collect them in post offices. However, be sure to check that they are going to a good cause, especially if your intention is for them to go to charity.0

this animal rescue centre in northants is looking for used stampsI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
Yeah, it's such an easy thing to do, isn't it. The amount that must get thrown out. I'm still not sure what they do with them though, someone told me they sell them on to collectors, but surely 1st class everyday stamps can't be worth anything?
Well yes they can, but not to collectors. What happens is that they get offered (not by the charity I'm sure but by whoever they have sold them on to) on e-bay by weight and the buyer goes through and sorts out and reuses the ones that have missed the franking machine - a more common occurrence than you would think. Not legal, but it happens.0 -
I take any used stamps to my local eye hospital in Birmingham where they have bins for all the old stamps. The stamps are sent to guide dogs for the blind and are used for vets bills for all guidedogs both new ones and retired ones. I know because I asked one of the nurses 'Auntie Ann' and she told me.0

Cat's Protection League also take used postage stamps, for any moggie lovers out there. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Hi, just been reading this thread and thought I would add my bit!!
We run a rabbit and guinea Pig rescue center near Market Harborough, Leicester and we collect stamps to raise funds to help pay our ever increasing vet and food bills. You can find our address at www.beechtreebunnies.co.uk . I am currently updating the site to include the stamp bit. If any one has any stamps to spare, we'd be extremely grateful for you donations.
