    Where'd everybody go?

We had a bit of a day out with daddy today... let OH sleep in and went to farmer's market, cafe for some brunch and then baby rhyme time at the library, just me and Elijah. Then came home for lunch and a nap, he pooped himself awake after about an hour and then he came to the shopping mall and supermarket with me. OH took herself off to a cafe to write, and had a peaceful time.
Then this afternoon I took a bath and we chucked Elijah in near the end, first time in many months I've bathed with him, he is a wriggly handful now and just wants to splash violently and submerge himself  fun was had by all though, except he screamed and cried when it was time to stop.
Actually he seems to be entering the terrible toddler stage a bit, all day it's been little mini-tantrum screams whenever something changes that he doesn't like... new phase beginning  doh. He also seems to be getting the hang of saying "no"
see this is proof you are worse than me, cuz I cant find anything dirty in her post

I suppose 'homer' is a bit like 'hummer'

I know exactly what you mean. I'm currently looking to see what to do with the four crates of books I have in front of me.. Do I bother to ebay/amazon them all, try selling them in bulk for local car booters, or just FreeCycle them? I remember how much they all cost so it pains me to just FC them but then I don't know if I can be arsed with listing them individually...

Elle I went through exactly this a couple months ago (we moved house). I actually started a thread on MSE asking for advice, people pointed me at car boot sales as the most likely way to shift them in bulk fast, but actually in the end I was able to find a second hand bookshop who was willing to drive round in a van, pick them up and pay me forty quid. Definitely lots less than I could've got selling them individually, definitely the best option as it was fast and zero hassle :) Good luck!
(I should've got rid of more :( we still have 3 crates we can't unpack in the new place...)

Comfort and commiserations to the bored/miserable people today! It can only get better! :A

WHY do some freecycles allow you to post straight away and other you have to wait HOURS for a moderator to approve it and put it up? It drives me flipping nuts! I've given up on the one I submitted to my local one and posted on the next nearest now - I don't have all evening to wait for them to decide to check if anyone has something to offer people! ARGH!

ETA: My books were mostly fiction paperbacks, so the second-hand prices are pretty low per book. If you have 'better' stuff, hardback, reference texts etc, it may not be the best way.

See, this is what I'm looking for, although I'm not sure we have that kind of thing around here :( It is all fiction - mostly mine and Dad's stuff but I'm not quite sure what it is that Dad reads! Mystery political, thriller types I think! When I get to them, I'll look a few up in Amazon and check.

When I was little, Dad used to have Saturday mornings out with us like you do with Elijah and it often involved going to a second hand bookshop - I remember taking books in and swapping them for 50p and some more books! :D Could have only been about 3 or 4.. :o

sometimes I go outside and look up and there is a light in each window and a solitary soul in each room - it would be so nice to do more stuff together, thats the main reason I am trying to change things.
Do you eat meals together? That is probably one of the best features of Economy Gastronomy - they have had the whole household eating meals together instead of separatel and they have all talked about how much better it is. You could have a family film night where each week a different person picks a film and you make popcorn and all watch it together. Another idea is doing something as a family on a weekend. It could be something just as simple as going for a walk together.

My Chris is a leftie - if anyone tries to force him to eat RHed I'll give 'em a good old talking too :rotfl:
Randomly I'm RHed but eat LHed and my Dad is LHed but eats RHed
My Mum is left handed and she would never have let any of us eat the other way round (or wear our watch on the other arm etc.). She was always very particular that we should do things the standard way.

I randomly wondered last night (because my wedding ring is scratched:() I hold the lid of jars in my left hand to open them so is that LHed way?
I think it is to do with the direction of the thread and which way you are twisting your hand - you are pulling rather than pushing. I bet you screw them shut with your right hand.

I also have a question about night feeds. I think I am feeding her when she is maybe not really aasking for food, because I am scared of her waking and crying. I feed her as soon as she stirs and starts sucking her hands, even if she is still eyes closed, but this is now every hour and I wonder if she's not actually hungry? She will eat for tenmins or so each time so is kinda hungry but maybe i could do her less times and for longer? What do people do?

The thing I find is that once she starts snuffling and waving her armss around I feed her cos then she goes to sleep all quiet, otherwise I lie awake next to her cos I can;t sleep next to a thrashing baby! (Let's not eveven get onto me not being able to put her in her crib yet).
I didn't feed Alice till she woke up but if you're happy and she's happy, don't worry about it.
