Hehe, he knows that but he was just concerned because of the scaremongering, it's okay, he let me eat the cat food
Anyhow peanuts always give me diawahwah, but they taste nice....0 -
mel, i was brought up by a childminder, not cos the woman that gave birth to me was working but because she didnt want to look after me
You Childminder sounds lovely:) Although I'm certain you didn't mean to, you have made me feel worse:o I have always maintained I do not want my children 'raised' by someone else, maybe I am not doing the right thing after allI would hate anyone. most of all my kids, to ever think that I don't want to bring up my kids myself. To spend time with them and teach them. Oh No!!!!!!!

Not read everything but:
KRYSTAL I haven;t got the stains out of the carpettey are a bit paler from using wwater and I asked on OS about wwhat to use and waiting on replies.
I have some questions:
when do you statr tummy time? Lilia is 5 weeks now and when I asked the MW at about 3 weeks she said 'not yet' but didn;t tell me when to start. Also, what do you do with them for it?
Do you read storiees/play games at this age or is what we do enough? We just talk to her, sing to her, mimic her facial expressions and generally carry ehr around showing her stuff. We have a play gym but so far she is mostly scared by stuff dangled over her, although we have had limited success with one toy we show her.
When do Bf feds get les over the day? She eats now for around 3 hours a day ratheer than 5 but the feeds are still around the 11-14 mark. I'd hoped as she needed less time on me the amount of feesd would go down but they haven;t!
And still on BF. As we cosleep, during the night I pop her on for a feed whenever she wakes up, which at the moment is around every 90-120 mins but it occurs to me she may not actually be hungry and I amy be making mroe work for myseelf.
However, if I don;t do that she will cry and wake OH and in the week he needs sleep so he can go to work (and I do too!). She will pretty much always feed if I put her on (and enjoy a sneaky suck but not eating too) so I don;t know if I'm enocuraging a bad habit with this or nott.
I'm hoping to get her in her cosleep crib at some point but so far she likes to still be right next to me and won;t really sleep anywhere else (she shuffles over to me if I put her further away).
So lots of questions but kind of related I think - can anyone help?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Sami, no I missed it, I will go back and look. sounds like I will be asking HV about peanuts next week then. I miss them so! (I've been good due to peanut allergis plus asthma and excema and hay fever all affecting every single member of my family.)

Skinty - from what I've read, we should aim for 10-12 feeds a day. That is about how many Toby has now, although each feed is now really short - only 5-10 minutes at a time. Co-sleeping, when he wakes, I gently pat his chest, sometimes that makes him go straight back to sleep, I think he just wants to know that I'm there. If that doesn't work within a minute or so, I'll feed him.
For me, breastfeeding is about so much more than eating, so if he wants to just suck for comfort, I let him.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

I've done it from about a week old just for a minute or 2 and built it up as he gets stronger, time on your shoulder and chest is just as good thoughwhen I do it on the floor we put Ed on his mat and Chris n I wiggle toys or just talk to him encouraging him to lift his head

Ed has only started to like the playgym recently at around 10weeks, he's still not interested in toys really

Ed feeds at least every 2hrs during the day but has a chunk of sleep at night thats usually between 4 - 9 hours (usually less than 6hrs tho)

hi guys!!
off to buy my nursing bras next week.
how many have people bought and do i need diferent sizes as the weeks go by
If that makes sense--- like do your boobs shrink after b/f for a few weeks or do they stay bigger till you stop....'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Thanks Mel! That's really useful, and great advice. Sharing much appreciatedladybirdintheuk wrote: »Oh, I knew I had something non-wjongy to say too - I recorded Izzy laughing on my phone yesterday and now it is my ring toneNow if I get fed up when I go back to work I can ring myself to cheer myself up!
That's awesome! I wanna do that now, will have to work out how to. Then I will tell everyone it was my idea and pretend not to know who ladybird is  Wonder if I can do it from video, have some good video noises already... hmm
Sorry you're having a bad weekend ladybird, it can still get better! Fingers definitely crossed.skintchick wrote: »I have some questions:
Tummy time - in an informal way, I think we started this right away. I.e. when playing with him even from day 3 or so, we tried him now and again on his tummy. We just increased the time as his tolerance/willingness increased. We didn't do anything special, but we tried to put him on interestingly coloured/textured surface (mats etc), or put objects in his line of vision, or for limited periods got down with him and made faces at him
We didn't find "games" were really practical so early - peekaboo was probably the first game and he was a few months I think before really getting into it... anything that involves your voice and familiar stuff is good though, reading to them or singing or nursery rhymes... in my opinion
I don't remember exactly how old yours is Skinty, 3 weeks?, but I think we found BF and BF intervals at night naturally decreased over time, we didn't try saying no at night at all for months and months - 6 months+ at least - and I think there wasn't a lot of change/"improvement" for maybe 6 weeks? or more even. Sorry if that's bad news, every baby is different!0 -
Hi Skinty:)
I can't give any bf advice sorry as I ff all mine, but with regards to tunny time and toys Kai is 5 1/2mths now and has only in the last month minded being lay on the floor, he hated it.I don't think there is a set age, but maybe try it for a few seconds each time until you think she is ready to spend a bit more time like that. Also what you are doing sounds fine, babies just like being carried around and LOVE watching facial expressions, so sticky out tongues and smiling, frowning etc.....she will start to copy you then:)
And I keep meaning to say I absolutely adore the name Lilia, it was one of my top choices for a girl:DUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
