its amazing how you can think of ways round it when you dont want to spend the extra money :rotfl:x

See for me I think it's money saving to have a microwave for those as if I dfrost something in it I only do it to use it there and then - we have too often had to change dinner plans because of DHs work etc... and wasted what I defrosted. I reheat meals in it because I think it's cheaper to zap it for 5 minutes than heat my oven up (10 min) and cook/reheat if (30 mins more likely more)
Its like the advert says, its called a baked potato for a reason! Mmmm, I want a proper baked tato now!

better a microwave baked spud than a ready meal from Tesco :) I agree baked in the oven is better though :)

Right, I'm packing baby's hospital bag (don't fall over!!!) :rotfl:(Not done my bag yet, as I'm waiting for a few bits to arrive)

Thanks to MFD's very useful list, I need advice on the following

I have on my list 5 vests and 5 babygros - so babygros are the ones with feet in right?

And also, should I just take in Newborn stuff or would up to 3 months be OK as well?

Also how many breast pads/maternity pads should I take in my bag?!!!!

Also how many breast pads/maternity pads should I take in my bag?!!!!

For the first couple of days estimate that you'll change pads every time you go for a wee or every 1-2 hrs. A pack of 24 would be good, if you're running low, someone could get more in by the time those run out... Pads-wise, one every 6-7 hrs for colostrum but lots more after day 3 (though I'm sure you won't be in that long :))

Glam - Yes, babygrows have feet, rompers don't. You could do rompers and socks I suppose? I took in Newborn and 0-3, and ended up having a baby who looked very silly! I had to go out and buy tiny baby stuff. I was not expecting a small baby, I thought I'd have a good 10lb'er! I think whatever size you take, it'll be wrong! Breastpads, some women get through a dozen a day, others none. I didn't leak at first, so didn't actually use any in the hospital. How near to home are you? You could just take 5 pairs or so, and leave a box of 'extras' somewhere easy to access at home, and send OH, Mum or friend to fetch more if needed. I took too much to hospital and it ended up all annoying me. Oh maternity pads, as above. I'd recommend wearing two at a time (not on directly on top of each other, but one at the front and one at the back. I managed no leaking doing that!

  • My Mum phoned today, all a bit emotional! Bro is having a memory board at his wedding, so she was looking through photo albums, and getting a bit sad at how quick babies grow up! Must remember to take in every minute of this. I was about 13 months when she stopped feeding me, and she said she still remembers how sad she felt when I got off the sofa from my last feed. How am I ever going to give up BF'ing? :o

At the moment the thought of giving up BF'ing Benjamin makes me feel weepy :o I just can't imagine saying 'no'. Not that he is bothered where his milk comes from most of the time
We will cross that bridge when we come to it I think. Who knows how I will feel in a months time, never mind 3, 4 or 7 months

18 days till my Bro's wedding

Baby question, Toby really cries when he sees someone new. Only lasts thirty seconds, and then he is fine and likes looking at them and having a cuddle, but the first time anyone looks at him he screams. Anything I can do to stop this? I don't like him crying, but it'd do more harm to avoid people wouldn't it?

Avoiding people is not the best option. Exposing him to people probably is though...probably not what you want to hear hun!
The wedding will be a good start.
Other than that, he will grow out of it...I wouldn't worry!! I have never heard of a grown man that cries for 30 seconds when he sees new people ;)

Have deleted the questions that have been answered!!

I took a couple of newborn and a couple of 0-3m. Benjamin was a big baby at 8lb 14.5oz buy the 0-3m stuff was quite big on him (for the first week anyway!!)

Maternity pads - I would aim for at least 2 packs of 10 and make sure someone knows where more can be found.
Breast pads - I think I took 10 pairs....probably brought most of them home but it's not like they take up tons of room!!

thanks girls - I've got a growth scan tomorrow so hoping to get some idea on size then.

I think I'll pack my bag and then pack a few spares including different sized clothes for bubs and pads and things. I can always keep them in the boot of the car.

Been saying I'll pack my bag for the last week but keep putting it off :o

As I'm getting my induction date tomorrow, it will hit home how soon this could all happen so I need to get a wriggle on!

I just made the economy gastronomy macaroni and cheese recipe. I don't like it. I did amend a few of the ingrediants, used smoked bacon, didn't have nutmeg.

I feel all shuddery as I forced it down as not to waste food, it's a good job OH likes it, otherwise I'd have to eat it for lunch. I'm trying not to waste food.....
i thought it looked yummy :( i would NOT put in the artichokes though

Can I ask a nosey question why are you being induced, tell me to F off if you don't want to discuss it. I would highly advice smaller babygros as El was 7lb 8 but was still to small for 0-3.

Keely It's nice to see you in here, I was trying to remember your user name the other day coz I was going to ask after you but I couldn't remember it, I even went to bed thinking about it!!!!

Sami I'm not a freak honest:eek: I had a dream about you and Chris, not sure of all the details but it involved you writing and publishing a book but I fell out with you coz you used photos of Chris in it:confused:

Can everyone stop changing Avvys it confuzzlin me!!!!!
