hi all, just reviewing my budget spreadsheet.

How much 'fun money' do you guys budget for each month for you and DH? For entertainment, hobby spends, drinks and food out, books and magazines... that kinda thing. I guess it's like the grown up equivalent of pocket money- all non-essential fun spends.:D

TIA for any answers, Love Weezl xxx

DH has £50 a week (that includes any meals/drinks at work and family take aways) and I get whatever extra there is in the account... :rotfl:
button were you looking for one of these?? just thats is local Ebay

Tia How did the feeding go?

we went into town instead :o:D
Many thanks to LuT, Tia, Elle, and Honeypop.
Looks like i have something to look forward too then .

its not that bad, I was so against a section but I have recovered so quickly this time.

Weezle, not sure what our budget is, sky high most likely.

I've worked out that after the bills that have to be paid this month like rent/CT/phone/sky/elec/gas (he just got paid today) we have approx £1360 left in the bank, and I reckon by the time he next gets paid, that will be at £500. If not less  Food shopping has to come out of that though, but we spend way too much on that aswell, though I really shouldn't need to do a shop for at least 2weeks, as from the top of my head there is

    3 packets of 500g mince
    1 packet of 250g mince
    20 sausages
5 packets of turkey breast steaks (Got them from Asda for £1 :money:)
A cheese and tomato pizza that's been in there since WWI
Packet of reggae reggae chargrilled chicken
    Some HM soup
    Pork joint
    Barbecue spare ribs
    Fish goujons
    Lamb crisp bake thingys.

And then the usual stuff like like Chips/frozen veg/nuggets:o

Not to mention my tin cupboard, it's all the way round the back, last time I counted I had 20tins of chopped tomatoes :rotfl: and I get 2 dozen FR eggs for £1:money: from a dude at my dads work, though I wasn't happy with the last batch, the shells were weak and some of the eggs had cracks, and I swear to god one egg was so big it must of killed that poor chickens butt.

Anyhow my point is, whilst I have all that food, I will probs do another shop. Why? God knows!

The only "entertainment" item we are buying is an R4 card which is about £25 I think (MrsTine, could you tell me where you got yours from?)

So anyways, yes, WE WASTE MONEY! I'm ashamed of it too!
  • Glad I'm not the only one honey - it is always when he is stressed that it gets worse here, so I'm hoping as Izzy gets more "interesting" she will become a better stress reliever, or at least she can demand he takes her to the park or whatever and he won't have as much time to disapear off to the pub! I think he finds the time he spends with her relaxes him, but he forgets it when she isn't in front of him, so she isn't enough to draw him away from the temptations of the pub if he is there already, or is getting off the bus nearby iyswim.

I'm also wondering if it would be fair of me to show her how to turn the playstation/tv off :rotfl:. I'm sure she will work that out for herself soon enough though!

Anyway, Izzy is with my Mum this afternoon, so must get the hoovering done while she isn't here. Poor baby is terrified of the noise, and hoovering whilst holding her is hard work!

How did everyone go about getting their children to read? I think Keira should be learning the basics by now, and she knows letters are "abc's" but I'm not sure how I go about her reading them? Teaching her them will be okay, she just has to learn to recognize the shape/look of them, but not sure how you get a child to piece it all together, or is 3 a bit young for that?

I tried to get her to count back from 10 and she didn't know what I meant, I tried to explain, but she got bored and squirted me with a duck instead (I was in the bath)

Somebody on here is a primary school teacher, although I can't remember who:o But if they are still about on here i'm sure they will give you some great advice.

All I can advise is that she needs to learn the letters of the alpahabet phonetically and then just stick with two letter words first like it/at/in/on/ then move on to three letters cat/hat/mat/hit/pit/ etc......

Our school calls saying the letter phonetically the SOUND. and saying it the 'normal' way is the NAME....

But no I don't think it is ever to early to start going over these things, just don't worry if she can't grasp it yet.

My neighbour buys them direct from Hong Kong... I think there are some European sites that sell them too but if you can't find any (they're clamping down!) - let me know and I'll see what I can do! :)(PM is better - I miss so many posts!)

OK how about a cupboard challenge? :)

I'd suggest the mince becomes lasagna, cottage pie, spagbol and maybe some HM burgers? :)
The cheese and tom pizza - whack some extra cheese on and some reggae chicken :) Maybe if you have the chicken one night and the leftover chick on the pizza next day? :)
Try to work out how many days you have meals for :) And if you can manage to not buy anything one week you get a treat :D
The tinned toms could go in the lasagna, chilliconcarne etc.
If you have red lentils then you can make some HM lentil soup (I like to add carrots too...)

buttons start with the basics, first hold up a shopping bag, asda/morrisons etc and ask them what it says! then boxes of cereal, tins of food things she will reccognise and then build it up lol! this is how we have taught all of ours to read!

Amber will be 3 weeks on Thursday and I am completely pain free and driving and walking to and from school and up and down town and doing housework. All I get it a little tugging feeling if I've overdone it.
My insurance wouldn't cover me for driving this soon after an op so be careful.
