Feely I personally don't think when kids are weaned affects them in that way, I mean back when most babies were weaned at 3mths there were still fat and thin kids :)

My mum is fat but her brother is slim, they were brought up the same.

I will say that I grew up with free access to sweets, choc and crisps nothing was ever demonised and I've always had a healthy view of what to eat BUT I also grew up with a mum that yo-yo dieted and constantly talked about being fat and disgusting, she often told us to never let ourselves get like her, which has resulted in me being torn. I look at my mum and feel disgust at her size which upsets me because she's my mum and I love her. It took me a long time to get over the fact I was a size 12 after having Chris, I was actually a totally normal, healthy weight but I felt fat and disgusting for ages.

I think the best thing you can do is both try to be as healthy as possible and try to not to use words like fat around Toby, I try to tell Chris that it's not healthy to eat choc all the time and if he wasn't healthy he'd find it hard to play IYSWIM so Choc is a special treat (don't get me wrong he eats plenty of the stuff :p) but fruit is a much healthier food he can eat much more of it and more often.

    Hope that all makes sense!

I am absolutly sure she does but I am not sure if she would be better on formula!

Hope everyones ok today, sounds like some people had a good night! :D

Found this on Kellymom, wonder if it is talking about the same thing?

"Some premature babies have a temporary form of lactose intolerance because their bodies are not yet producing lactase. This will go away as baby matures, and in fact the maturation process can be accelerated by baby's ingestion of lactose."

    Have you tried block feeding?

ETA - have you reduced the dairy in your diet?

Amber is feeding and I really, like I had bran flakes really, need to go to the loo... :o:rolleyes::rotfl:

Well she slept till 3am after her 11.45pm formula feed (with some EBM to cool it down) then had a 7min BF and woke at 7.30am. I'm a happy mummy today, got boys to school/nursery no problems, back home, housework an now a BF. :D To collect Chris at 12.

DS1 wasn't much a wee-er feely, regardless of how much he drank (he was formula fed). So long as he's showing no signs of dehydration then I'd imagine it's normal for him.

Tara, have you got someone you could ask to check your positioning? If you find she does a lot of small snack feeds, try and put her back to the same side if she feeds within an hour. Like Feely suggested, cutting down on maternal dairy can help too.

On the whole weaning debate... I made a point of showing hubby how Caitlyn watches what we eat... She has done since she first started to focus... Didn't mean she was ready to wean... With Aimee I completed bowed to pressued to wean her early, she was about 18 weeks... She could sit up alone unaided and went pretty much straight onto lumpy food... But I wish I'd waited until she could do it alone... Not least because of all the faff that goes with weaning a baby... She also wasn't that fussed wether she got food or not as long as she could have her milk... Don't plan on weaning Caitlyn a minute before I need to... Wether thats 5 1/2 months or 9 months... Whatever suits her...

Had more to say but she's screaming purple and the in laws are due any minute... Well 20 mins ago... But hey ho... See you later...

Oo I hate feeling too old for birthdays! Not only do I have to work, and I'm not doing anything celebratory, and then managed to walk 15 minutes to the station this morning before realising I'd forgotten my wallet and walking 15 minutes back up the hill... then back down... very sweaty at the office now :| bah.

Elijah just wasn't bothered about weaning til after 6 months, which was lucky as it matched what we'd wanted to do. He always enjoyed playing with spoons though, still does.

Oh yeah, Elle... Caitlyn has one of these. We got it for £4 from a car boot sale and she loves it! It's in the end of her crib and she has a kick about on it in the morning while I'm gettting washed and dressed or just when we're in the bedroom... It gets switched off when she's supposed to be sleeping though... (although one night it went off about midnight because I'd forgotten to switch it off and she'd kicked in her sleep lol)
