AF - we do 'hidey boo' (or peepo if you prefer) to get his vest on...

I make up tons of crappy songs all day every day!! Current fave for mummy is 'I like to squeeze him, squeeze him' to the tune of I like to move it move it :D I do it with actions and it means I get lots of cuddles ;):D

I do peeka boo:p also blowing raspberries on tum, tickling toes etc....all in the name of making dressing time 'fun'
I also make up my own lyrics to song...oh he's a cu'utie chappie or oh he's got a sme'elly botty.......to jolly good fellow song is my current one:o

i normally do '1, 2, 3, boo' but i think she is getting sick of that now. she fidgets so much and even more so now as her hands are permanently in her moujth.

she does have a few sleeping bags, i dont use them every night.

Do you have a local baby bop or rhyme time class?

have just found out that two local libaries have a baby rhyme session during the first week of each month.

i know there is another one that is on weekly, but i think that's finished at the moment for the summer.

i am going to look at going to them becuase LO seems to enjoy music

Isn't it something like £39 to sit on your lap...or pay full child price to have their own seat??

  • Quick MIL rant before I go to bed!!

We were out last night at SILs 40th birthday party. Benjamin did really well to stay awake and be cheerful until around 9pm (2 hours past his normal bedtime)

At about 9pm I changed his nappy and put a sleepsuit on him and put a carton of formula in a bottle in case he fancied it (I wasn't dressed for feeding!!)

At which point MIL appeared saying 'shall I give him his bottle?' so I said okay and passed Benjamin over. He didn't want the bottle and started to cry (remember 2 hours past his bedtime) so instead of handing him over to me for a cuddle MIL whisked him off out of the hall taking his bottle and his dummy with her

After a few minutes I said to hubby that I would pop and check where they had got to...out in the entrance to the hall (where it was cold ) MIL is standing with an inconsolable Benjamin who is just screaming his head off and won't take a dummy or a bottle.

MIL says that the music is too loud and he is scared in there...he needs to be out here to calm down. So I said 'he is scared because he was with his mummy and daddy 2 minutes ago and you just picked him up and took him away ' I took Benjamin off her and as soon as he was in my arms he quietened down...just wimpering and back into sleepy mode. I just walked off back to hubby and with some cuddles from us both Benjamin was asleep in a few minutes.

I get on with my MIL most of the time and she is great to me and with Benjamin but she (and my mother is exactly the same) doesn't seem to understand that ultimately Benjamin is most soothed by his mummy and daddy...why on earth would anyone think that taking a tired baby in a strange situation away from his mother would calm him down???

    Rant over :D
