ETA - Last nights total was £6856.35. I'm going to double check without 16yo, although I did tell them last night she was not in full time education.

To quote myself, re-done the form without 16yo, and the total now says £6759.14. Not a huge difference, but I wonder if that's because 16yo would have been entitled to CTC backdated, as she turned 16 within last 3 months, so the extra £97 reflects this? Or maybe the form isn't so clever :o

Either way, every penny extra will be useful and saved for the girls.

I like the rule, never go back. Sometimes people need a break, sometimes people fall out, but if the split has been for a decent period, espeically if one or both have had other partners since, I always believe that this part of your life should be tied to the history books. I hope he doesn't do the same again this time.

MotM they both have had other partners since the split which didn't work out for one reason or another. I am more worried for the little boy, sometimes I don't think he knows whether he's coming or going with his parents. I hope for their sake they can work it out. But as always I will be there to pick up the pieces should it go wrong.

Oh yes indeed. And Kimberly Walsh, Britney Spears, Zoe Salmon and the woman from the Veet adverts....I could go crazy here :rotfl:

I've just read the small print...

This is the amount your household may be entitled to from 22/08/2009 until 05/04/2010

So the total for a year is much higher. The £6700ish is just for 7-8 month period

So the £10kish on entitledto could be right. 10k a year? Nah, can't be right, but both are hinting it

Well, children don't understand why mummy or daddy go away and don't come back. It can damage children and has done mine in small ways.

The boy must come first, but i'm guessing she will do what she wants. She's entitled to be happy too, but it doesn't sound like this chap will hang around for long anyway :o

I'm feeling somewhat jealous... I get Child benefit - that's it... :( So we've been paying taxes for all our working lives - and still do - and when getting a helping hand from the government would be really handy we get what? £20 a week? Gee wizz! Punished for working too hard and earning too much :( Joy!

On a positive then hubby has just applied for a job in the US... I'm not going to tell mum about it unless he gets it because she'll be devastated if we move over there :( Even if it's only for a few years... Not quite so easy to "nip" over to see her grandchild :S Nor as cheap!
But financially would be great for us - even if it meant I'd have to quit work for a while or find something that paid less over there... :)
The bad side is Dhs boss might put a stop to it as it's in the same company and he won't want hubby leaving this account - he's turned a major loss into the main account for turning a profit in the sector - a major acchievement!

Child benefit is not child tax credits MotM, are you sure you're comparing same things?

ETA looks like you've worked out the discrepancy anyway, ignore me :)
